Dash/Console rattle on acceleration?

Does anyone know about this? My car is nothing but noises, but lemon law doesn't apply in this case.

Have a rattle when accelerating from a stop sign or light. Between 2k and 3k, starts making noise, then stops once the car shifts or speeds up. It sounds like its from the dash, MAYBE behind HVAC/Stereo?

Anyone experienced that? Is there a fix?

You mean remove the red felt thing that would be an ashtray in another car? And then remove what else? Doing that will let you see behind there for loose wires or something?

Thanks!

Well, if you have an 07, I would just take it to the dealer and let them fix it. But if you want to try to do it yourself you can try to take the center compartment out. It is the compartment right above the "not an ashtray" box. It is just held by clips so it comes out pretty easily. open the compartment and pull it straight out. See if you can pinpoint the rattle by taking that out.

In order to take the "not an ashtray" compartment out, I think you need to take the entire center console out first (cupholders, shifter area). that might be too much work to diagnose this problem.

Oh no! Now a dash rattle? The car is how old? What did you own before? I would sell it if I was you. I hear Chrysler has some good models.

Oh, I think I have my first big bad brave stalker! Weeeeee, this should be fun! Please, just get the courage to be nasty to someone in real life so you don't have to do it online. Take a self-defense class, or something! It can't really make you feel better to do it here, can it? Its not real! You know that, right? Whatever you are going through isn't going to get better by lame attempts to feel superior in cyberspace. Get well soon!

Arctic07...I feel your pain. When I first got my TSX, it had rattles coming out of everywhere. I was persistent and kept taking it to the stealership. Eventually, they got all of the rattles and you can now hear a pin drop in my car. It took 6 months and 20 some trips to the stealership, but the car is now to the point that I'm happy with it. That's a good thing since I plan on driving the car for 4 more years or so. A small inconvenience for years of happiness. Good luck. Just be persistent and don't give up. If you pay this much for a car, it should not have rattles right off of the lot.
Oh, and don't let jerks like horn dog bother you. He's just a power hungry moron who can't get enough of himself. Keep posting about your progress...I like reading about it and adding my 2 cents when possible.

I think john's issue is that you're mentioning lemon law even though you haven't taken it to the dealer 3 times for the same issue yet

Anyway, OP, what do you mean it makes noise between 2k and 3k? Does it really sound like it's in the dash, or maybe it's something underneath the car, such as the cat's heatshield, or perhaps the header's loose?

I think I am well within my rights to say the word lemon law. I think it speaks volumes about ones dissappointment with a car they were ready to love based on test drives and reports from others. I have taken the car to the dealer three times for another noise, not this new one. I also know that lemon law does not apply to noises, as I said before. If that guy gets bent out of shape about those words however, I can only imagine what sets him off in real life!

Anyway, I was wondering about the heatshield myself! But at three weeks old, I would assume that the quality control at delivery would have caught it, if not at the factory. I have learned that probably isn't the case. Like I said, I need to attack each problem one at a time though, so until the passenger seat is officially fixed, the rattle upon accelleration will have to wait.

Why would I be worried about the phrase "lemon law"? What the hell would I care if Honda replaced his TSX with another? They are not giving any money back. Don't think Honda gave that car away. They give you another car and then resell your old tsx for a profit.(Hello). Im sure they dont like their name tarnished, but the company DOESN"T lose money.
I know we are totally different. Im not the chizler type. I know what I want, build and buy it. The time I waste haggling costs me money in the long run. Am I satisfied
with that philosophy? Absolutley! The next time they "see me coming", you get pushed out of the way to help me. If it needs fixed, they fix it and make sure its as comfortable as possible for me. My world doesnt revolve around my car. A car to me is to get from point "a" to point "b".
I really hope you get your rattles fixed. I know with your attitude, whoever has to deal with you, looks forward to see you walk thru the door and will go out of their way to make you happy. At least your mother will be happy to see you get out of the house.

I am hoping that last bit was a joke? My stalker comment was supposed to be a joke - don't tell me I really have to be worried! I don't doubt that you cherish confrontation. You are obviously so frustrated that even ONLINE posts that were never originally directed at you make you upset. Seriously, no one was talking to you - I was talking about my car, and you start in with personal attacks. Not that I expect you to think about this, but what made you feel personally dissed when I talked about my frustration with my car? I will never understand people like that. Actually, I would like to say that I am above that, but clearly I am sitting here typing back at you. Ugh, never mind.

OMG!! Do you reaize that you just threatened someone in public?? Seriously, what kind of 44 year old doesn't have either the brains enough or something else to do but to threaten someone they have never met? You can end up in jail for this stuff. I can't believe that this has been allowed to go on this long on this forum.
Can a moderator please shut this thing down so that this guy can't write poorly-written, idle threats anymore? This isn't what this site is about.

Wow, just finshed reading his posts on the other threads too. What would the folks on the TL boards think of this jackarse? They sure wouldn't like him representin'...

LOL...:gheylaugh:...angry 44 year-old picking long-winded e-fights on a $5k computer, probably speed typing away with his Nintendo-thumbed fingers in his dark bedroom inside his parents' house while wearing in his whitey-tighties and...

Yeah, Im having the same problem. It it annoys me so much that sometimes i just floor it till it stops at about 3k. i have an 06'

I havent taken it to the dealership yet, i feel like they are just going to rip the interior apart, and say they didnt find anything. Then they are going to but it back together horribly.

p.s.- i live in Miami where all the immigrants are hired for dirt and their work is also dirt.

Immigrants don't own a monopoly on that, so ... let's not revive this thread right back into the gutter with such talk. Ahem. Our TSX' are immigrants, btw (build in Japan). (off the soapbox)
