Cracked TSX navi screen

Hi,

I have a 2007 Acura TSX. Unfortunately the navigation lcd screen cracked recently. It's very expensive to replace it with a new one. But I managed to find an aftermarket lcd screen which is more affordable. I now need to figure out how to replace my cracked screen with this other one. The person I am buying the lcd screen from said that if I can remove the stereo/navi unit myself and ship it to them, they could replace the lcd screen for me.

I found a few websites detailing how to remove the stereo/navi unit (but any more pointers will much appreciated, since I am a complete novice at this). What I want to know is, once I remove the stereo/navi unit and ship it to this person, will I be able to operate the car still? I understand that several functions like the A/C will not be accessible, but will the car run OK otherwise for short trips?
Thanks!

One of the easy to see problems is that the circuit board that controls the LCD and it's function mounts on the back of the LCD display. If you have the correct unit, you're OK...if it's just an aftermarket unit that's the same size, you're gonna have a real lash-up behind the panel.

I don't think it'll work. Your best bet is getting the model off the unit (probably an Alpine unit) or buying a model from the junk yard.

Thanks - I already managed to get the right lcd screen, so that isn't the issue. The question is whether I can operate the car after I remove the stereo/navi system and ship it to the person to have the lcd screen installed, i.e. will the car run?

zatzat, why so complex? After you remove the unit, flip it over, remove the audio mounting screws and remove the audio unit, remove the cover over the board, unscrew the board, unscrew the 5 screws that mount display unit (that's the LCD and if the unit you have has screw holes to mount the board on the back and about 5 screw holes around the edge, it slots right in there), remove the display unit. Reverse to install.

What's the link to the website detailing how to remove the stereo nav unit?
