For 04-05? I didn't see replacement fogs on there for 06+. As I understand it, oem fogs for 06+ must be ordered as a whole unit. Can't get just a lends

Yeah, I called the dealership and talked to the parts department. For the '06 they said the entire assembly needs to be purchased. The price is 147 bucks. They want $85 to install it, I'm just going to do that myself and put the Lexan in front of the lenses like I've seen a few other members do.

This was the closest thread, so I won't need to start a new one!

I was just out crawling around my car removing the snow (not getting a shovel that close!) when I noticed a nice crack all the way down my driver's side fog...

Operating under the assumption that they won't replace my 18mo. old lamp (I'll check, but I'm not holding my breath) are there any issues w/ putting something like the Xpel film over the broken one? I might as well get it to try and protect my other one, and maybe keep the broken one from getting worse??

Also, anybody think the Xpel or 3M is better or have opinions? And, should I just get the whole kit or are the headlights less likely to break... (I've never known a car w/ a cracked light that hadn't been in an accident... this is weird to me...)

I just back from having my driver's rear door lock actuator replaced, and they pointed out that BOTH my fog lights are cracked - WTF!!! This must have happened very recently because I would have noticed. And not a scratch on my bumper - obviously road debris, but both fogs??? Incredible! Car's only 19mos old!

Anyway they wanted $600+ to replace both; $400+ just for parts ("stealership" prices of course) so I thought I'd see if this was a common prob (apparently so!) and whether it's too late to use Xpel and 3M (same thought as DemonPoofball) - no visible moisture buildup yet. Also - any thoughts on whether this would pass MA state inspection - Xpel/3M over a cracked fog? Even finding parts elsewhere way cheaper, there are other things I'd rather spend my $$$ on than new fogs!

Thoughts much appreciated.

Through the life of my tsx, i've gone through 3 sets of ebay jdm oem fogs, currently on my 4th set

the first 3 set cracked ... obviously
i'm on my current set for a little over half a year now, this time i got the rockblocker film on it.. and it hasn't cracked yet .
but what might also might play a role is that this 4th set's got the euro r front lip wrapped around it, so i guess it kind of protects it more?

This thread gets interesting.....we on the other side of the world, also experience fog lights cracks. Too many, especially if we are running on highways and experience likly stones or pebbles hitting it hard and cracking them.

My solution : Install a net over the fogs. First trial was not so good as realised the foggies heat up quite abit. Now, i used a wired mesh and cover the foggies. Gives it a nice look and when the lights turn on, still not a problem. Cost probably US$4 for both pieces. Simple and does the job.

Simply get a minimum 8.2cm diameter tea strainer metal wire mesh. Flexible, insert between the foggies and using the covers to hold it back. The nature of the metal wire mesh actually gives it a slight buffer and this should be enough to prevent direct pebbles or rocks hitting. So far, the metal wire mesh stays in place at high speeds. Foggies hot, but the metal conducts the heat away too.

Hope this works for those keen...My "Red JDM Euro R" in Gallery has a pic of this, but it was the old plastic mesh but it gives any of you the idea using the metal wire mesh.

Here was the old DIY idea with plastic mesh but not high temp enough. Replace with metal wire mesh from a tea strainer at least 8.2cm diameter, so to cover the foggie.

Both of my foglights cracked within the first 6 months of ownership. The dealer replaced them free as a one-time goodwill. I now have rockblocker on them. So far-it is working (knock on wood)

My driver's side fog has been cracked for a month or so now. I haven't bothered taking it to the dealer yet as past experience with them tells me they won't goodwill it. When I take it in for my next oil change I'll ask, but I'm not making a special trip. I like the mesh idea. It looks pretty sharp, and might even be functional. But I'm not totally convinced its rocks or debris cracking the lens. The crack on mine is perfectly smooth and there doesn't appear to be any pitting. I'm not sure exactly when it happened, but I know it happened during a cold week. I'm thinking thermal shock did it. I will eventually replace it, and when I do, I'll be looking very closely at it to try and make a determination. Has anybody else done this with their cracked lenses?

I've had other vehicles with factory fog lights and never had this happen, but I don't think any of them have had real glass lenses, I think they've all been some form of plastic.

Thanks everyone for the advice... I'm relieved... and appalled!... to know I'm certainly not the only one. I'm actually a little shocked they only cracked now...! After discussing this with a few people, I'm thinking it's the thermal shock too, not rock and debris (no pitting).

I like the metal mesh idea, the thought had crossed my mind but wasn't sure just how to do it. s001y: can you post a pic of the metal mesh you have now?

I highly doubt a cracked fog would hinder me in passing the MA state inspection since it doesn't affect a necessary part of the car, so I'll leave it as is until the spring, then I'll likely replace the fogs myself and use rockblocker and maybe try the mesh idea (REFUSE to pay $660 for something I can do myself!). Besides, this would be a good excuse to replace with amber fogs anyway!

Thanks again!

this happend to me recently as well! I spoke to a guy at acura and he said canadian tire sells the film, it's funny cause he had the same problem with his 05. Has anybody seen this film while strolling through hardware or automotive?

I just found out that my passenger side foglight glass is broken. how are those film covers suppose to protect the glass? and im looking at replacing it myself and buying a new light off of amazon, anyone know a better cheaper place buy it?
also i have the A-spec bumper, any ideas on how to replace the foglight. I was thinking that i’d just have to remove the plastic cover under the bumper and unscrew and unplug the light.

You're getting a new light off Amazon? Hadn't though to look there. Is it specifically for the 06 -08 TSX?

As for the replacement, I think you have to actually remove the bumper to get to the mounting hardware. The light is bigger than the hole in the bumper anyway. I'm going to a different dealer on Friday for an unrelated issue (Fountain Acura can.....well I'm sure you can figure out what I want to say there.) I'm going to ask them about it then. Maybe they'll goodwill it as they're taking on some warranty work that Fountain refused to do. If not, I'm going to order one from Delray Acura and install it myself. I've also ordered a 35 watt HID fog light kit. Hopefully the reduced temperature of the HID light and the Lamin-X film will keep it from cracking again.

i also noticed the last time i washed my wifes TSX it has a cracked drivers side 40K on it now i doubt ACURA will take care of it huh??
anyone have a number to call?? might be worth a shot?

I'd just ask the local dealer. Its going to be up to them whether or not they're going to do a goodwill on it. Never hurts to ask. I'm going to ask the dealer tomorrow if they'll goodwill mine, but I don't have high hopes.

On the topic of the factory fog lights, can anybody give a reason why you absolutely have to remove the bumper in order to change them? From what I've seen it looks like it can be done just by removing the plastic covers underneath.

I just replaced my drivers side foglight myself with a buddy by removing the bumper. You may be able to get at it by removing the plastic shield underneath but it would be extremely awkward. It sits deep inside the bumper and there are three screws you will need to remove to pull the fog.

The bumper was very straight forward to take off and since you plan on removing the bolts and clips underneath, you should remove the rest of the clips and two screws that hold the bumper.

I ended up putting Lexan plastic in front of both fogs to prevent further breakage.

My light hasn't come in yet. I'm expecting it today though just waiting for the UPS guy. Probably won't be able to install it until next week though as I seem to have broken my finger yesterday. I'll let you know my findings. Likewise, post yours. I look forward to hearing how it went.

once you take off the bumper it will make sense. Look at the fog light housing, remove the bulb and set it aside. Should only be screws... i think...

Fog light still hasn't come in and the seller isn't exactly cooperating with me. I sent them an email yesterday saying if I didn't at least have tracking info by tomorrow (Friday) at noon I was filing a fraud report with Paypal. Sadly it looks like it might be a while before I can do the actual install though.

Here's my lil story.
Had OEM fogs since I bought the car. I put on some 3M Clear Bar on it. No problems for a few yrs, then one day I noticed that the passenger side was cracked. I thought to myself must have been a fast or big rock.

Last summer I had to replace my front bumper because some hit me on the side. I bought some eBay password JDM yellow fogs. Fresh from the body shop w/ my new fogs. When I got home, I grabbed some clear bra material ready to go to town and what do I see? A cracked passenger side fog light.

Looks like the crack started in the middle and spider webbed up. Great! I didnt put clear bar on the other and its still good as new.

I'm ordering some cheap ebay fogs as well as 3K HID's from hidextra. I live in BC and the roads are practically full of gravel this time of year. I've searched around looking for something to protect the glass and I found this DIY for the 8th Gen Civics. http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/light...ement-diy.html

I'm going to try this method as opposed to the film before I even install the lights. Less than $20 supplies seems pretty good to me for crack-free fogs. Has anyone done this to their TSX? Should it work like on the Civics? I need to protect them somehow before I install them.

Yeah, quite a few people have done the Lexan replacement. Supposedly it works really well, much better than the OEM glass. I'd have concerns about it turning colors over time. I don't have anything to support that, just a concern. If a lose another lens, I'm going to try it though. I still have the housing from where I replaced mine a month or so ago.

So is Laminx the way to go or is there something better to use?

I don't know. I got Lamin-X for mine and haven't noticed any cracks or anything. But its only been on for about a month, so its too soon to make any judgements one way or the other.

After both the foglights on my tsx cracked and were replaced by the dealer as a one-time goodwill I put rockblocker on them. Two and half years later-still good (knock-on-wood)

Looks like I'm going to have to go with Laminx because Rockblocker doesn't seem to be in business anymore. Google isn't showing anything.

The best thing to do is just by some clear acrylic (plexiglass) at Lowe's or Home Depot. I purchased 1/8" thick sheets and cut them (roughly) to about the size of the foglights, then just put them between the fog light assembly and the bumper cover.

It's pretty straight forward, all you do is remove the bumper, remove the fog light assembly (three screws), trace it on a piece of paper, and then cut the plexiglass to size (remember to cut it larger than the fog light glass, but smaller than the screw mounts). The plexiglass will fit between the fog light assembly and the bumper cover, resting on the screw mounts (or pinched against the bumper cover).

My fog light cracked very quickly. I noticed it less than 4 months after purchasing the car (both were cracked). I never replaced them (since they work just fine), but I wanted to make sure that they wouldn't completely crack. I put the plexiglass in there and they have not been damaged any further.
