Clutch replacement

Sup gang, i need to get my clutch replaced and the dealer is quoting around 1500-1800 for parts and labor.

Does this sound way too high?

Labor should be about 400-500. You'll have to dig online to determine the price of the clutch. Not sure which one you want to put in.

Just curious, but how many miles do you have on your car? I'm currently at 65K and was wondering how much time I have left on my original clutch. I don't really "push" the car, so I'm hoping to get a longer than average wear out of it.

Glad to see you're still here, Jiggaman. Didn't you post a couple of months ago that say you were thinking about buying something to replace the TSX? Planning to stay in the TSX fold for a while after replacing the clutch?

Wondering if you're surprised that the clutch needs replacing at this mileage. Mine still feels fine at 87,000 miles -- knock on wood.

thanks rx280, yeah my tsx is paid off and i decided to just fix the clutch and enjoy not having car payments for a while longer.

my clutch still feels fine to me too for the most part. i only really notice that it needs to be replaced when taking off in first. even with that i can take off without an issue as long as i am very careful with it. shifts from 2nd to 6th feel normal to me. altought i am hoping that when i get a new clutch that i'l lbe pleasantly surprised with what a new clutch is supposed to feel like again.

Yeah, I've heard dealers charging $1500 for TSX clutches. I imagine it'd take me about 5-6 hours working with a buddy so it seems kinda high but then again, it is the dealer. I have 85K on my stock clutch and it's solid, no signs of wear whatsoever. Of course, the previous (first owner) owner basically only drove on the freeway so the clutch should be in great condition.

holy cow, did i forget what a fresh clutch is supposed to feel like. mine has required so much effort to depress but it has been so gradual that it got like that. as a result i really didnt think much of it. probably been great exercise for my left leg though haha. my left calve is probably bigger then my right one.

when i first depressed the clutch after having it replaced i almost thought something was wrong with it because it was so easy to push down. was strange at first taking off in first because i was used to the clutch requiring so much effort. def glad i had it done though and it has made my 106K + mile TSX feel a little fresher again.

since it is already paid off i will drive it for atleast 5 or 6 more months before i think about replacing it.
