clutch problems? *HELP* not sure.

Just bought a brand new 2007 Acura TSX 6-speed (manual transmission).
I just came out of driving only several other 6-speed cars, just learned about
couple months ago. But anywho I have driven civics, RSX, 3-series BMW, lancers.
The clutch on the TSX is very very soft / sensitive compared to the other cars,
to the point where i barely have to gas it to get a smooth grab.
Was wondering if this is how it is regularly for luxury 6-speed cars, or if
theres something wrong with my clutch.

thanks!

For me the clutch on the TSX is very light and having the right amout of gas/rpms is important. I havent driven many other manuals but they have seemed easier. After driving the TSX for a while you will get used to the clutch and become smooth in every shift.

Just mentioned this on another thread - the DBW makes it more difficult (IMHO) to pull away smoothly. Give it time, you'll get it.

as the owner of numerous manual transmission vehicles i must say the honda/acura have the most smooth and easy to use clutch and transmission. we owned volvo's, mitsubishi, mazda, nissan, honda, hyundai, and of course our tsx. give it time- it will become easy 4 u 2

Ever since Honda (along with rest of the industry) went with DBW, it has become more difficult to accurately shift quickly.

There seems to be a slight "lag" in RPM thanks to computer controls.

The DBW in my 06 TSX does make matching revs and heel & toeing a bit more challenging because of the slight lag in throttle response, but you get used to it.

As for the clutch, the TSX's clutch is light, but not the lightest out there. At least it offers a decent level of feel when you're near the friction point. I just drove someone's 2002 IS300 5MT and the clutch was not only really heavy, but numb as well - completely devoid of feel.
