Climate Control Temp Display Off

I have an 06 with Navi so the climate control temp display is above the navigation screen. Somehow the temp display is off, but the system is still on. You can raise and lower the temp, but there is no indication where you started or where you finish. When I push the A/C button to display the manual controls on the Navi screen I get a message "Use climate control when engine is on." The climate control is on, just not the display. Has anyone had this problem and hopefully have a solution?

I found this by accident on my 06 with navi. If you hold down the XM button (below the navi screen) for 10 seconds, it'll toggle the climate control display area. Useful for drive-in theatres.

jus stupid question thou, this is while driving?
cause even if the ac is off, air will still come thru vent until you press the button on right side of the navi screen to actually cut off air coming from outside.

The display that's above the navi screen and below the windshield...it shows the temperature, radio station, and the time. The whole display can be toggled off and on. When it's on, it operates normally and tells you what the climate control temperature is, what time it is, and what channel you're listening to. When it's off, you see absolutely nothing, but the climate control still operates, the radio still operates, and the clock still operates. Cover the display with a towel, and that's basically the same thing as having the display toggled off. Everything works normally, although you can't see what it's doing

jaehshim, it doesn't matter if you're driving or not. The display will be off whether or not you have your a/c system on or off. You can turn the a/c to full blast cold, fan speed 5, etc...then turn off the display so no one knows what temperature you've set.

Okay, I made a video of it with my cell phone. You'll have to turn your head though, since I had to turn my cell phone 90 degrees to get everything in the scene.

Notice how after 5 or so seconds, the display is toggled. I'm thinking maybe the OP or someone else held the button down a tad too long and didn't notice the change

Well, the display returned after letting the car sit in the garage overnight. The problem began after I got a car wash, so I believe the attendant must have pushed the XM control or something else to cause the display to disappear. One difference between what your video showed and my sitituation was that only the climate control vanished, I still had the clock and radio display. Maybe their is another toggle that would only turn off the climate display. Thanks very much for your help!

Did you ever find a fix for this? My 07 w/ Navi just did this on my last trip. It was a long 3+ hr drive, and towards the end, I adjusted the passenger temp, but it was stuck at 70 for both sides, wouldn't change. I tired turning the auto control off and on, but it didn't help, a little bit later both temps just turned off (leaving only the radio/clock display). The climate control still seemed to work, as you could feel the temp get colder and warmer on each side, but there was no temp being displayed (almost like the temp display computer crashed). turning the car off and back on fixed the issue. However, it did happen to me three times in my last road trip. But I haven't been able to duplicate it again for my shorter drives to work and home.

Anybody else with this issue? Or is there another forum thread that discusses this issue further that I couldn't find in the search?

Yup--this occasionally happens in my gf's '07; the temp display on either side of the screen will disappear, but with everything else working normally... what gives?

I don't know, but I want to get it fixed under warranty. But the chances are slim, as how will I recreate the problem that is so rare. I wish I would have recorded it on my cell phone. next time I will.
