City Mileage

I did some forum searches but didn't find a definitive answer -

I have about 2,000 miles on my auto TSX. Using 93 octane, past 3 fill-ups with mostly city driving have resulted in 19-21 MPG. MPG for first 1,000 miles during break-in was 21-23.

I'm not a hard driver but have been using AC most of the time. Nevertheless, I have been surprised that mileage hasn't been better. Thoughts?

I get about 20-22 MPG for my city driving. Most of it is in stop n'go conditions in the Houston bad traffic. I have a relatively short 10 miles one way commute to work. AC on 100% of the time. My car has 11,000 miles and using 93 Octane.

Well, AC is your problem. the AC will eat up your gas. A civic gets about 38 miles to the gallon. the ac will cut it down to about 32 miles to the gallon. so its either die in the heat or just alittle bit more gas.

I too drive in Houston traffic - 79 miles RT/day. :'( I fill up each Friday and avg. 29mi/gal. I have a 6MT and usuallt shift around 3000 rpm. AC used 100% of the time. Car now has 22000 miles on it.

Yeah, the A/C is a lot les hard on gas than a few other Hondas I've seen. But stop & go traffic is pretty much prone to give you that type of bad mileage.

This is normal. I got around 25mile/gal 75% freeway 25% local.

For local. around 22 or 20.

Well, since the car is EPA rated at 23/32 and you're doing mostly city driving ... what are you surprised about again?? Those ratings are too high for most cars.

I averaged 20mpg for a while... now just at 22-23. What can you do?

Take 'er out on the open road and you'll see a big difference

I do 80 miles RT in the Houston Area, 50% long, 50% stop and go in city.

I have 2500 miles on the 5AT, and I have been getting 27-28 mpg. My long miles are always about 70 mph.

Yes, in Houston, my A/C is always on.

I have seen 32 mpg or so in a trip from Houston to Dallas.
