Chipping Clearcoat

I saw the thread about a bad paint job https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19293, but I'm having my original clear coat chip (kind of like if you get a bad sunburn and your skin sort of bubbles up). There is a 1"x12" spot directly in front of the driver's side headlight that is "bubbling" up. I seriously doubt Acura will cover it, but wondered if anyone else has had this issue.

I'd take it to the dealer. I don't think the bumper cover should have anything bubbling up. Got any pics?

Waiting for it to be dry enough here in Ohio to show it.

Should have something available tonight.

They should cover it. I know of people who got the dealer to paint their entire hood after they found little chips all over it (from tiny rocks hitting the car).

Here is the photo I took of the drivers size bumper where the chipping is occuring. Saw yesterday that it has not started on my hood, again on the drivers side.

Can't see any bubbling b/c of the dirt, but the chipping is really noticeable. If there is no sign of impact on the bumper I would think the paint should be covered under warranty.

If you look just under the large chipped area, those are the "bubbles" I was talking about. I don't want to wash it until I take it to acrua for fear that I might change the way it looks. Since it is winter, I want acura to basically agree to the defect and paint it in the summer time.

Well, I took my car in today to have the Honda/Acura regional service manager take a look at it. They are definitely going to repair the defect and stated they had never seen anything like this before, ever.

was it isolated only to the bumper?

good luck with repairs. My bumper has done that twice since they painted it. second time, though, they just did a touch up and ended up with a bumper full of fisheyes. Im taking it in soon for a 3rd paint, this time they are taking it to the collission center for an entire re-paint instead of the "on site" painting they did the first time. Paint should withstand a good washing.

At this point yes. I saw two spots on the hood just north of the head lights and the Reg. Service Rep said it was more than likely due to all the rock chips. I said, "Welcome to Ohio. We use boulders for rock salt."

So he is going to check into that as well.

I thought I was the only one in the country. Sorry to share the same situation. They are taking it to a really good body shop here, so I know they're going to respray.
