Check VSA System

Upon startup, as soon as I take off and begin to apply the brake, my VSA system starts going haywire and I feel resistance on the pedal and significantly reduced braking. About 10-15 seconds later, the 'Check VSA System' light comes on and the VSA system deactivates and I'm able to drive the car safely, but obviously without stability control.

Any ideas as to what the issue may be?

A frequent problem is wheel speed sensor fault. Only way to know is to access the codes.

See the following link for extracting codes:

good luck

I connected the code scanner, but unfortunately it didn't return any codes. Very strange...

The second post in that link above shows how to get the VSA codes - most OBD-II code scanners will NOT get those codes as they're Honda-specific.
You basically need to jump two pins on the OBD-II port with a paperclip and stuff.

So I brought it in to the dealer and it turned out to be the YAW sensor and cost me over $1000. Brutal. But it's fixed now so I'm somewhat happy.

Your outcome is why I DIY. I never take to a dealer unless I've exhausted all possibilities to DIY.

Yaw rate sensor is $770 from Acura, so $1000 repair cost is not too bad.

Only option would be to replace w/ used part. I found them on ebay for $50.

good luck

Check VSA System Acura TL - 2012

Hi All,
In an attempt to fix my 2012 Acura TL with 'check VSA system' error. I found that this forum should contain more accurate information about this. I've experience this recently.
First advice, if anyone experience 'Check VSA System' on their Acura. Please check your wheel alignment first, most places can do this for about $70-$100. You will notice it as well if your steering is a bit mis-align.
Acura cars are very sensitive, if your car is not properly align for some reason. The VSA system will put out an error code.

My other suggestion is wheels ABS sensors and ABS pump. For ABS pump, don't purchase thru dealer, it will costs you a fortune! Try to get a used part, cheaper and will require about 2 hours of work at repair shop.

Good luck to all.
