Check Charging System
Check Charging System
So i got in my car this weekend and got a "Check Charging System" light on my dash.
Voltage with the car running was a little over 13Vs.
I haven't tried driving anywhere, didn't want to end up stuck.
Looking back, I have heard a bit of alternator whine in the radio over the last week or two....
Bad alternator? Anything else to check?
I am on my 3rd battery already and this one isn't very old.
2006 TSX original owner, thanks

I lost my alternator a couple of weeks back. Wife backed out of garage and called me to investigate Check Charging System light.
I plugged in a Equus Battery Monitor that I keep and it showed only about 12.4 volts. New alternator fixed the problem. There is a fairly recent post on alternator replacement if you DIY.
A charge level of 13 volts is low, but check w/ load (lights, rear defrost, full blower speed). If it drops below 12, the alternator is toast.
You can remove altennator and have checked at auto parts store or pay someone to check inplace.
good luck
