Changing the Starter??
Hey guys, I know there is a DIY on here about how to change the starter but I have some general questions in regards to removing the intake manifold. Somehow when I was removing that tube connected to the throttle body, it ripped in half so now I need a new one. Its the tube in the picture below. I had a question about removing the stupid lines that are connected to the intake manifold. Is there a special trick to doing it? They are so freaking hard to undo and Im worried that if they are this hard to take off they are gonna be super hard to put back on. Does anyone have any tips at all on how to remove these lines? BTW like the guy in the DIY as soon as I removed the two lines pictured below, anti-freeze came spewing out everywhere. I'd really appreciate any tips since I don't have a car until the starter is replaced
You ripped the air intake duct? It's available from Acura or possible car-part.com to find a used part.
The hoses can be difficult. After reposition the clamps, use pliers to first enable a little rotation of the hose on the nipple. Once it will rotate, you can pull and twist to remove. There is a tool to assist w/ pulling available at auto parts stores. Sometimes you can get a screwdriver and pry the end of the hose to get movement started.
good luck

Ok I finally just gave up on the stupid lines and disconnected the intake manifold at the throttle body. One more question, Im finally at the starter and how the CRAP do you get the bolt off that is the normal looking bolt. The other bolt that is 6 inches long with an extended neck into a head wasn't that bad to get off, but the bold that is closest to the front of the car is insanely tight. I have everything off but that last bolt to finally get the starter out
Im just gonna post this tip for any future people who search the forums. I finally completed the starter replacement and honestly I wouldn't worry about the coolant lines. I couldn't get the one of the lines off so I just took the throttle body off and it made things MUCH easier. I got one off and the one I got off I used to drain into multiple disposable cups
