Center Dash Blacked out...

sup guys,

Tonight while I was driving, all of a sudden the center dash board lighting blacked out for no reason. Both stereo, clock, and air controlling unit went black. Other than that, everything seems to be working, ac working, stereo working. Is this one of the TSB for the early batch of 04 TSX where the center unit fades or blacks out? I'm taking it in tomorrow to have it fixed, but just thought I'd start this and see if any other members are havent the same issue.

KC

reading that TSB, will they replace my audio unit if i am out of warranty? Because i feel that they should replace it regardless of whether i have 127K miles on the car or not; it was a manufacturing defect, not my fault. my lights went out last year and the dealership tried charging me like 1400 dollars to fix some stupid lights.

This happen to me a few months ago. I have the Navigation system. They replaced it, but I am afraid it will happen again. I don't think they will fix the system if it is out of warrantee. I was playing with the voice system when it went out.

I took my car in this morning, got a bunch of crap from the technician saying that this issue isnt a warranty issue, it's a "safety issue" when I asked for a loaner for the duration of the repair. So I replied and asked, so how much is it gonna cost if it's not a warranty issue. He said, it's free.... Then I asked so why is it free if it's not under warranty Then he got personal and said, "If you do not like how we deal with the situation, you can go somewhere else"

Wow...can you guys believe that? I got his name and I'm contacting Acura Relations in Torrance to let them know the situation. So for now I'm having the issue repaired at South Coast Acura this afternoon, hopefully the situation won't be as heavy as this morning at Tustin Acura.

For those of you in the Orange County, CA area, I would recommend that you stay away from Tustin Acura. This is not the first time I've had this kind of service from Tustin, it's probably the 4th or 5th time. It's well worth the drive to go to SouthCoast Acura or Weir Canyon, I've heard Weir Canyon has very respected services there.

So did they give you a loaner? When do you expect it back?

This was a Tech or the service manager?

He's actually the Service Manager (name is George Gonzales), or else I would've asked for someone in management to resolve the issue.

I had this happen to me a few weeks ago. I went to Cerritos Acura for the repair. They split the cost w/me 50/50 since I was out of warranty and the radio had been replaced before. The guy I talked to was professional and curteous. You might want to give them a try.

South Coast Acura fixed the problem and gave me a loaner for 2 days no questions asked. Got to try the 06 TSX... all I can say is wow the vtec changeover point is adrenaline-rushing. A lot more pull when vtec kicks in. I dont feel any decrease at the max torque though, 06 has 2 lb ft less torque. for South Coast Acura
