So far it's just non-navi.

My car is in today to have the console fixed and I'm pimpin a new 2004 EL loaded to the gills for a loaner. Man this car is weird. If anyone thinks their TSX is short on power, just drive an EL for 5 mins and you'll probably have a different opinion. They're trying to make it a luxo civic but I was expecting a little more refinement for $26,000. It's seriously loud on the highway and it's all you can do to get the thing to 140. I hit 140 in my TSX before I even notice it. I'd be cruising at 150-160 in my TSX every day if laws and traffic conditions allowed it. I don't think the EL could even get to 160.

Before today I would have given the EL a 7/10 but after driving it for a day I'd give it a 4. I just don't see the point.

The good news is that the radios seem to be readily available. It's a one day turnaround for me.

Add my TSX to the list of dark consoles, as of this evening ... 4400 miles. (6MT, non-navi). I'll be calling my dealer tomorrow to book the fix.

Other than sporadic rattles/creaks, this is the first problem I've had with the car.

I don't know what's up with these radios but my dealer was said that I'm the 5th one that has seen. With this many people having trouble, there's bound to be a TSB issued for this problem any time now.

I was told that if .1% of a problem exists within a population of cars, then Acura will issue a TSB. Can't say this is true for the radio though. My Service guy did not act surprised when I called them with this problem.

IMO, I have a feeling Acura is hiding a bit behind this one or they are reeming their radio vendor for quality. Remember, Acura's TSX doesn't have the same stuff as the JDM Accord, so this radio is a new design for us and I bet the vendor for both radios are the same, so they threw ours together and we're testing the quality or lack there of.

Hopefully the replacement lasts longer than a year like this one.

I just picked my car up at lunch today and wanted to say that I received excellent service from my dealership. I dropped my car off at 9am yesterday and it was ready to be picked up today at lunch. Totally painless procedure. The lights are back on and my seat slides smoothly and doesn't tip forward under braking. Two thumbs up to Erin Mills Acura for doing a great job.

Oh and my TSX feels like a rocketship compared to the loaner EL I had.

Hello everyone this is my first post i would like to say i love my TSX but the rattles sliding seat and now the center console going out are just making me a tad bit angry. My problem is i can only slightly see the time ac and radio when the sun is on it and at nighttime i can see nuthing at all but they all do function. Is this the problem that all of you guys/girls are having? thanks

That's good to hear. If I ever have any problems, I'll bring my car into Erin Mills Acura. I don't work too far from them. I wasn't too impressed with the service that I received from North Toronto Acura (the dealership I bought from).

If you do, ask for Ron in service. He made everything way easy.

My console light went out too. ARG! this is an annoying problem, nothing serious just a bug. But I am DAMN glad it is is under warrenty. 4070 dollars for the radio SHEESH. My dealer is taking great care of me (Acura West in Baltimore on 40) they are awsome. I am getting a new radio in 1 week, no worries.

Got my TSX back yesterday (1 day turnaround). Replaced the radio unit. FYI, if you have any CDs in the deck, get them out before you turn the car in. I accidently left mine in and now warranty group is supposed to mail them back to me. We'll see how quickly that goes... luckily they weren't CDs I'm really concerned about.

Superior Acura in Fairfield, OH was great and so was their Service Department Manager. Got a TL as a loaner. Liked it, but like my TSX better overall.

Well the AT doesn't seem to matter since mine is a 6MT but it does seem that this problem is only affecting non-navi cars.

I've been a lurker for a while on this forum. Anyway I registered to post my problem and when I clicked on the troubleshooting fourm I found this 8 page thread. I have the same problem as described throughout this thread. The only problem encountered was a salesperson saying that the lights aren't supposed to illuminate when asked about the problem. I am confident that this is the same problem and will be taking necesarry steps. Glad I got the extended warranty, I don't want this to happen again after my initial 3 years are up.

You can add me to the list, too.

Now that mine has been replaced I seem to have reduced FM reception.

Rumor has it that there is a bulletin in on Acura's computer system so the ball might be rolling already. Something as expensive as the center console will surely be at the top of some manager's list when they see the number of them coming in defective.

When I took my car in for the service the guy who entered my problem asked one of the other service guys "should I just order another radio now?" to which the other guy said "no remember, we have to follow that new procedure". Read whatever you will into that but they had to first inspect my console for a day before they could order a new one.

Perhaps Kurt could do a quick search in the system to see if there's anything new on the center console.

I'm checking in to update my report of the console lights failing a couple of weeks ago on my non-navi TSX; mine was fixed by replacing both the radio unit and HVAC control unit, according to the dealer. The overall replacement experience was very mixed, but everything seems to have ended well.

The short version is ... three days in the shop plus 3 hrs in my driveway ... 2 radio units (first replacement had cracked faceplate, 2nd unit didn't arrive until too late the next day) ... 04 Jetta rental courtesy car, no Acura loaners available ... dealer "tech" marred the dashboard in the console area prying the trim off, stupidly, with a screwdriver ... damaged parts not replaceable, only part of the entire dashboard assembly ... local vinyl/interior magician repaired the dashboard marring to completely "like new" condition (amazing!).

I'd give the dealership (Sunnyvale Acura, California) "service advisor" an A for consistently trying to do right by the customer (me), and the dealership a D for quality of work and not catching (or fessing up) to their damage error.

The vinyl/interior repair magician used simple tools -- heat gun, plastic re-texturing pad, burnishing tool, vinyl paint -- but lots of skill. The specific damage was screwdriver marks below the long plastic trim piece above the glove compartment, plus some nicks in the center console (looked like white marks on my Quartz gray). I did get a detailed insider's view of all the local Acura dealerships, as well as how they stack up against dealers of other makes. He likes Hondas and Acuras, on balance.

One FYI which I'll post in the main forum is that there is a lot more leather in the seats than I believed from this forum -- the entire front face of both front and rear seats, not just the perforated section, are leather. I didn't believe the interior repair guy at first, but he pointed out his reasoning (and has 25 years fixing this stuff!)

They messed up my dash abit also.

Same magic on the repair. I figured they couldn't fix it, but amazingly they did. 100%.

I, however, also had to point it out. I actually had visible damage to 4 locations. Nothing more maddening than having to make the service adviser come out to the car and show him all the places his tech thought was acceptable workmanship.

In the end they made everything right. And I am happy. Abit more drama than I needed, but correct end result.

Now I only wonder how long until this unit craps out..............................
