Center Console/Armrest

Anyone else have problems with their center console/armrest?

Know how the top sperates from the bottom so you can either access the deep compatrment of the flat top area. Well, when I lift the left lever which should only allow access to the top, the top lifts as well. This is the second time this has happened on the car. I had the dealer change the hinge at about 15K and it was fine until today (43K). So it looks like I'll have to have the hinge replaced again. The problem only got worse the first time this happened and when it was fixed it was obvious the two peices were working properly as they moved very smoothly. Now I have to apply some force to seperate them.

Maybe the dealer did'nt change the hinge and just applied some oil?

I've never heard of this compliant, anyone else have this problem?

Nope.

Only problem was that the armrest was too low and was giving a hell of a back pain, but I solved that by getting a small leather cushion fabricated to my size.:ghey:

Never had that problem with mine... Are you still having the problem after the last time it happened?

After it was fixed the first time it was great (About 25K) I just noticed that the problem came back this morning.

Nothing wrong with mine. Though I tend to grab the wrong tab a lot.

Dom,
Sounds like the same problem I'm having. When I press the lever to only open the top compartment it partially pops up exposing the large bottom compartment. It really hasn't been too much of an inconvenience as I just push it back down. It doesn't sound as bad as what you're seeing as I don't need to pry it out or apply any pressure. It justn't doesn't function as it should. I may have the dealer look at it during my next scheduled maintenance.

Hasn't been a problem for me. Maybe warmer weather is causing the hinge to bind up a bit now?

mine has done it since I bought the car three weeks ago. It is probably user error.

I have the same problem, and my dealer ordered parts for me. He said I need to replace the whole armrest...it's going to be alot of work to do. It is a big deal because TSX has so many little problems...

Mine started doing the same thing. I mentioned it to Acura service when I had it in for the 10K scheduled maintenance, and the mechanic informed me that the black tray is designed to hang loose like that. Since it seemed to be more of a design issue than a maintenance issue, I continue to just live with it.

Yeah, I have the same problem...I've been meaning to add some WD40 or something like that, but I haven't gotten around to it. It pisses me off because b/t that and the damn "I don't want to close" glove compartment that I also seem to share with some others, my wife gives me constant shit as to why she like her WRX better. I tell her she's retarded because they are completely differnet cars, but she can always throws those two problems in my face with a big "I told you so!" Damn woman!

So it looks llike I'm not the only one. jmf, definently not user error on my part. For those that have the problem, complain and get it fixed, thats what the warranty is for. If you don't complain Honda won't see it as being a problem. Its a huge inconveinence for me as I'm also in those areas and need them to work properly.

Hopefully this time it gets fixed for good.

I don't use mine often enough to remember which tab to pull and wind up opening up the wrong compartment maybe half the time. But, each tab does open the correct compartment so mine is working OK.

It did started squeeking a bit when opening (think it started from the time my 5 year old son started opening it from the backseat with all his weight on the opened lid ). Should we add this to the rattles and squeeks section ?
