CD-R causes cd changer failure?

Ok, my cd changer went broke last week, and finally took my car in for service. so the service advisor asked if i been using cdr/copied cds. then i asked whats the difference?
he said, because the size of the disks are different, that can cause failures. i was like "what?" i just said ok and let him continue.
theres no way thats true. if there is a difference, its probably like .001mm difference.
anyone have contacted acura about it or anyone have confirmation?

CDRs with labels are the problem. Sometimes they fly off while in the drive.

euroStyle,

Every technician will tell you that the CD-R is the problem. It has happened to my old TL, but has been fixed with a warning. I also couln't imagine the difference between regualr CD's and CD-R's, but CD #2 & 3 were CD-R's that failed to eject.

I've been using CDR for years and it never happened to me until 2 weeks ago. My Nissan Quest van cd stopped working cuz one of my cdr's was too old that the label peeled off and went into the cd player Got it fixed by myself with a few keyboard dust cleaners though, so it's working again

no problem using CD-R . .if ur unit failed .. it's a mechanical failure in the cd changer or what dan said about lables. Just use cd-r with flelt tip pen to lable . no stickers. i had my cd changer changed out twice becuase the cd player wouldnt read the cds ..

Dan's right, unless someone specifically states their CD-R in the TSX w/out the label got stuck. I've got CD-Rs throughout my changer and nothing wrong for the past 2 years.

Stick-on labels are baaaad. As I've heard elsewhere...

My wife's old van with a 6-disc changer wouldn't even take a cd-r with a label on it - the "pull-in" mechanism just couldn't grab it at the slot opening. And then we got a nice little postcard from Ford about using cd-r's with stick-on labels in their changers. Apparently it was a big enough problem that they felt they needed to let us know all about it.

Down here in South Louisiana, the heat can loosen the glue on the labels enough that they slip and the label can get caught and peel off in the changer as it gets shuffled around and make a big mess.

My changer is loaded with cd-r's, but I use pre-coated inkjet printable cd-r's that I create my own graphics on (using an Epson R200 that has a cd tray so I print right on the cd-r's coating). Those are like a full coat silk-screen printing on a commercial cd and is about the same thickness.
