Car restarts while driving!

I have been having this problem for a few months now, and it is getting worse day by day. While driving, the car would just restart! It takes less than a second for it to be back up again. The accelerator and brakes also work during this time, but I can clearly see all the electronics go off, restart, and the dash welcoming me. This has been happening more and more frequently, and now it happens almost every time on my commute.

Anyone has any idea what it could be? It's a stock 2008 TSX.

Forgot to mention. It happens only at low speeds, about 20mph or less, and especially after braking. Not that it *never* happens while accelerating, but 90% of times, I would be on brakes when this happens.

Check for excessive resistance in the negative battery cable. There was a service bulletin for this as I recall.

Ignition switch (electrical) is also a possibility. Frequent failure component on Acuras and Hondas.

good luck

Sounds like the same problem GM exec were trying to cover up with their vehicles. Doesn't seem it would get better with time and if the car doesn't restart, you could lose power steering, engine power, air bags, power brakes, and worst of all XM radio.

Brakes? I say ground, definitely check voltage at the battery during idle and see where you stand to begin troubleshooting.

Now the car is also throwing 'Check Emissions Systems' light. Took it to my local mechanic to read, and he says that it could be a faulty relay, ECU or a fuel pump issue. He confirmed that it is not related to the ignition switch. Actually that was the first thing he checked since he had seen many issues with that.

I've found that if you push the brake most of the way down, but not all the way down, you can avoid auto stop/start while still bringing the car to a complete stop safely. That's how I put my car in the garage each day.

I know this is old post. Car is not restarting. The instrument panel is just going out and coming back. Disconnect battery terminals. Leave disconnected for 20 minutes. Clean them. Reconnect. I had this problem. By disconnecting and reconnecting problem fixed.
