Car drives off on it's own when put into drive

When I put my car into drive and then take my foot off the break, the car surges and then drives off on its own. It does it on flat land and even on uphill surfaces. I have gotten the car up to 20mph without ever touching the gas. I also experience this when I am sitting at a light though not as sever as first startup. Does anyone else have this problem?

That's pretty high for idle rpm. Better let the dealer check it out.

i've heard other cars doing this, i used to read the is300.net when i was researching the is250 (other choice besides tsx) and one guy said his car just up and started going and he got in an accident.

my mom claims the same thing happened to her with her bmw x3 before (she then plowed into 2 parked cars). you may want to have that checked out. maybe the DBW is weirding out, or maybe some fuel issue who knows.

Both. It happens if the car has been sitting all night as well as it happens if I have been dribing for an hour and sit at a light.

Annoying as hell, i would go get your TSX checked, unless this is an Acura thing

My 05 does this, kind of. When it is cold, backing out of the driveway and it likes to lunge, but it only lasts for about a second and the idle comes back down. It isn't too bad, but it makes for a jerky back out the driveway in the morning! It only does this when it is cold. When it is warmed up, it is very smooth

The rpms are way too high for idle. You'll want to have a dealer inspect things and make sure that everything's working properly.

at first I thought he was confused like he thought the car shouldn't move at all when in drive . but yea 3k rpm sounds messed up.

Mine too. I will take a look at the rpm next time when the engine is cold. I usually wait for 30 secs before driving off though.

try putting it in neutral and rev it to about 3200 rpms for a couple seconds (3-5) and then try. It seems like a surge of fuel is getting in or something :\
