Question Can the door autolock feature be disabled?

Hello everyone, great forum!
I'm a new owner of a '05 TSX and I love it!

My only problem with it, is that when I get out and go into the trunk, the car automatically locks all the doors after I open the trunk.
How annoying!!
Dealer claims that this feature cannot be disabled.
If not then, what does the computer use as a code from the trunk to know it has been opened? Current from trunk light? Proximity switch?
I figured I'd try to cross whatever it is using to determine when the trunk opens.
Or loosen the trunk light bulb.

Thanks!!

.... the car automatically locks all the doors after you open the trunk? i've never heard of this happening before... doesn't do it on mine...

is this when you're coming back to your car after having it parked and you unlock the doors and then open the trunk? that's the auto-relock feature, if you don't open your doors within a certain time they will lock back on their own, as a security feature, i think with the '06 you can change the length of this in through the MID, but i don't know if that's possible with the '05s...

or is this as your exiting the car, and you open the trunk the doors lock on their own?

Ok, I just tried it again outside, you are right, when I unlock the doors and open the trunk, the doors re-lock. But when I get out of the car, open the trunk, then the doors do not re-lock.
I actually could do without this feature, my wife doesn't like the fact that when she's shopping, she unlocks the doors and opens the trunk, loads in the groceries and then has to reopen the doors again.
If I have to live with it, so be it.

Also, I checked the lights, they do auto shut off after car gets locked , my bad.

Thanks cibs for your prompt reply!
Have a great day!

no prob man~!

I know what you're talking about, it gets annoying sometimes, especially when i unlock the doors, open the trunk put something in close the trunk and they relock JUST AS I'M ABOUT TO GRAB THE HANDLE~!

As far as i know it's a security feature, but i'm pretty sure if you look in your manual you can change the time I believe from 30s to 60s to 90s... that might be enough time... but again that might be on the '06's or you may not be able to change the security relock time at all :S

otherwise the habit i've gotten into is that when i'm returning to my car and am going to put something in the trunk i unlock the doors open the trunk and then throw my wallet or something into the car, because once you open the door they won't relock again...

best of luck~!

normally, if you press unlock on the keyfob and do not open any doors for a set period of time (usually 20-30 seconds), the car will automatically relock itself. opening the trunk only during this period of time will still relock the doors.

the trunk will unlock if all doors are in the unlock position. it will remain locked if only the driver's door is unlocked.

i have an 05 as well...

This is what's happening, and it's the same for all year TSX's. Open and close the door, and the doors remain unlocked.

And if what you mean by the "trunk will unlock if all the doors are in the unlock postion" is that the trunk release above the liscense will only work with all the doors unlocked, you are correct.

Agreed....it can be annoying sometimes. I just made the habit of opening the door before it has a chance to relock. Either that or do whatever you need in the trunk, then open the doors.

I noticed this last time I was cleaning my car. I was cleaning the interior, and then I closed the door and opened the trunk. All the doors then locked. I thought it was kind of cool...I guess the car just assumes that you left the car and went to pick up your stuff in the trunk before leaving.

On the other hand, if you're approaching your car and need to put stuff in your trunk, you'll probably hit the trunk release first, then unlock the door when you've put your stuff in.

I guess the programmers didn't think that people would unlock their doors, and then decide to go to the trunk before getting in (ie: they provided the remote trunk release on your keychain because they figured you'd release the trunk first).

You can hit the trunk release button without unlocking the doors. I never unlock the doors until someone's about to get in, but I always hit the trunk release before we even get to the car anyway

It's a security feature and you want the doors to self lock (if they are not opened) after remotely unlocking them. Because the security system can not distinquish if the remote unlock was triggered by accidentally hitting the button in your pocket or disalarming on purpose.

Here is an idea... Make a suggestion to kpierson (who makes the windows up/down switch) to design a circuit to keep the doors unlock if the trunk button or the combination of buttons is pressed X number of times.

So apparently the 05's don't have the trunk release button on the keyless entry fob?

if that's the case, how come the problem can't be solved by using the trunk release button instead of the door unlock button? just a thought

huh??

he does use the trunk release button.... the thing is that he unlocks the door first, then the trunk and by the time he's dumped all his stuff in the trunk the doors have locked back again...

he's talking about using the button on the fob to pop the trunk. then you do what you need to in the trunk and close it. then you use the key fob to unlock the doors.
