Cabin Air Filter Change - need help ASAP!
Hi guys!
I am trying to replace my cabin air filter on my 07 TSX. I am able to access it and release it, but when I try to pull the tray out, it keeps getting caught up on the black vertical bar with a white sticker on it that runs horizontally just above the tray. Can someone help me, please? I really don't want to pay a dealer to do this!
Thanks!
Jeff

Have your glove box opened and you'll see two plastic tabs and the rubber stopped on the outterside. Push those tabs so they fall into the glove box. Once those are off the glove box will fall down completely and you will be able to access your filter change.
Not sure where the problem could be. Perhaps someone didn't install the filter correctly the last time? Keep pulling on it and if you end up breaking the plastic housing, it shouldn't be that much to replace it.
Normally once you remove the front cover it should slide out with a little wiggling.

Thanks guys! I'm not sure what the problem is either. I will take a photo of where the tray is getting caught up tomorrow.
I just wanted to make sure there wasn't something I had to trim or cut before removing it for the first time. Although, I am pretty sure Acura has replaced that filter for me before.

Ok, thanks for confirming!
Also, stupid question... but, what did you use to cut it with?
Anyway, I'm glad I paid a fortune to have Acura do absolutely NOTHING! Hence the reason why I'm going to start doing it myself!

This is strange, I even looked at the service manual and it doesn't mention anything about cutting any tab. I can even take a screenshot of the page if you would like. I bought my car used with only 23k miles so I don't know if it was ever replaced but I can tell you I never cut any tabs.
Service manual shows no cut...
I replace all filters myself and NEVER CUT a thing. DON'T CUT!
Open glove box ALL the way (includes popping out the arm and the two restraining roller thingies)...squeeze the tabs and remove. In my case, push the cable bundle out of the way...and it pulls right out.

Here is the image from the service manual. This covers the TSX from 04-07. You just need to press in on the two tabs to pull the tray out.

Listen to DuckRodgers on this.
Do NOT cut anything when replacing the cabin filter. The only thing you need to do is loosen the two gove compartment stops (one on each side) and have them drop inside the compartment. That will allow the glove compartment lid to drop further, allowing acces to the filter.
The only time you need to cut is when you are removing the blower unit. Such as when you are accessing the expansion valve.

I read the thread from the top. If you could see my face as I was reading the thread, I became more and more confused when everyone kept saying to cut something. Acura has never replaced my filter (I do it myself), and I have never had to cut anything.
The only time I have ever needed something cut was when working on a 2004 Honda Odyssey...but fortunately the dealer had done it already by the time I got to it.

Just know that the only time you will see the preformed cut areas on the lower sides of the Glove compartment is when you actually remove the gove compartment door. Now if you have removed, and your object is to remove the cabin filter, then I see no reason to cut the areas and remove the center section. (note - on doing this, you will have to get an addtional two screws to mount the now cut center section back in place.
Here is the link from above that actually shows the two areas to be cut. http://api.viglink.com/api/click?for...13355659354333
Perhaps this will help explain what is being talked about above.

Boy, way to make a mountain out of a mole hill. For anyone interested in how to replace the cabin filter, you need only to read post #25, the rest can be ignored (they'll only confuse you). This of course assumes you've done as I do and go to the last post and work your way back (so you've read this one first).
Thanks for the tips. I just replaced my cabin filter this morning, with a Bosch P3875 premium filter purchased through Amazon (which didnt fit properly-it was 1/8 inch to long-I had to trim and mash to the point it may not seal properly).
I would add that when pulling the filter tray out, the side clips should be pressed inward, not outward (as I first tried to do).
