buttons on steering wheel acting weird 05

I have 05 model with about 35k miles and the buttons on steering wheel is acting weird time to time.

2 out of 3 it will work correctly but 1 out of 3 it will act funny!

for example, when i press volume up, it will skip a track or when i press mode, it will change CD or something like that.

Has anyone had this problem? I will definately check it out with dealer when I hit 40k to do service.

Inform the dealer of it now and ask if there's been any recalls on this issue.

i had the same problem ... the dealership had to order a part and fixed it for free. volume up would actually go down for me and the cruise was acting sporadically as well. get your car checked out at the dealership, have them order the part, bring your car in for install, and use a loaner in the mean time. painless

Squeak

Do your steering wheel buttons squeak? My "volume up" button does. Do you guys think a little shot silicone lubricant would hurt anything if I sprayed it into the space around the button?

a SMALL amoutn of silicone lubricant shouldn't hurt but I'd try a dab on a cloth, and test it on an inconspicuous area of the silver paint JUST IN CASE it has a reaction to it. Silicone is pretty harmless though so I don't think there'd be a problem.

Make sure to wipe up any excess immediately... and wait around for a few minutes for anything that drips inside the steering wheel and might come out the bottom area.
