Question Buttons on the steering wheel

Shouldn't they light up?

I mean, or am I being petty here...but, we did a lot of night driving recently and IMHO, and the buttons don't light up on the steering wheel.

Annoying when you're using cruise and the radio....

Or, maybe I'm just being petty.

Perhaps it's an oversight by Acura, but the steering wheel buttons don't light up. Fortunately, the buttons do have a braille-like surface so you can feel each one easily. After a few hours of driving the car, you'll find no reason to actually look down at the steering wheel to operate the buttons.

Thats exactly why I don't think its an oversight. They wanted to save costs and figured using braille like buttons would do the trick.

I think about how it would look lighted and I think I would prefer it un-lighted.

I've been driving it since May, but then again, don't do much night driving. We don't take that car out where it could be stolen. I'd rather have the POS Ford disappear.

But, I wasn't happy with it when I was driving down the turnpike at 80mph a week ago and couldn't figure out which button was set and which one was resume for cruise. I think the wheel would look cool if it lit up.

What gets me is, my Honda Civic DOES light up at night...and my Acura doesn't? WTF?

I think I'd find them distracting if they were lit. And I've complained about the HomeLink buttons being unlit - go figure. I prefer them unlit, but one change I would have liked is to have a mute button for the radio.

I'd like the steering wheel buttons and the homelink buttons lit personally.

Homelink buttons should definately light up, or have another blue glow aimed in their direction. Night time garage door opening would be be less hit or miss. The braille touch is nice but the steering wheel buttons could use a dim lighting.

Would the writing on the buttons wear out over time?

The point of having buttons on the steering wheel is so that you don't have to look at buttons and stuff while you're driving. Right? So does it matter if they're lighted?

MODS! What if it's possible ?

Does the Euro accord have lights or the same stirring wheel? Might be able to fix this. It'll be just a Mission.

That's a good question! It might wear out... Why don't you re-post this question in a couple of years, and I'll let you know!

The steering wheel buttons should light up and the homelink buttons really need to be lit. After a month of ownership, my wife and I still have trouble finding the garage door opener at night.

I haven't had issue with getting the right buttons, but I would like to have had the steering wheel buttons to light up. Currently, I just feel the "braille" and go from there. The Homelink has the "braille" too, but I do find that the ambient light makes it hard to find the buttons when transitioning from the garage lights to the night.

There isn't any reason to not have all buttons with LEDs that light up at night. My ex-GF has a Passat and the steering wheel controls are light up at night. It is not distracting, and does not look bad. It is just easier to use.

I've read that the 04 TL will have the steering wheel controls lit for night vision so I expect the 05 TSX's will have the same.

i've only looked at my steering wheel buttons when i started using them but now it's pure instinct...guess lighted buttons would've been helpful when someone started using the buttons at night but that's only short term value, after a few days they wouldn't even need to glance down...IMO

The new TL definitely does have buttons that light. There aren't many ergonomic gotchas in the TSX, but I do think this is one.

Lighted buttons, I'll be extremely happy if the damn windows don't rattle!
