I don't have direct experience with the mechanism but in previous cars they look fairly simple. However, the problem is usually a broken piece and though superglue looks like it could fix it it doesn't hold up well and there are sundry springs and other pieces that have to be placed just so. In the end, I just take the darn thing to the dealer and they replace whatever it is and I pay the price (this ought to be a warrenty thing).

Not really useful, but that is my 2 cents.

I have tremendous respect for the engineering of these cars. They are several orders of magnatude more complex than the VW beetle I first started in. Even then I still had trouble getting all the parts back in their right places.

I am happy now to pay the experts what it takes to get it right.

Bringing this one back from the dead...I have the same thing happening to me for the cupholder door because I broke it trying to get the damn center console off for the short shifter install. Does anybody know the part number(s) of whatever I need to replace for an '06 TSX with ebony interior. Before i put the console back together i knew it was f'ed up and looked at what was broken and from what i remember it was a corner of the bracket for the cup holder. I tried to super glue it but that wouldn't work. I don't know if the "cupholder" part from sites like oemacuraparts.com is what i am looking for because their pictures aren't working or something. Any ideas?
