Broke a wheel stud >=(

So I'm driving home from work today and hear a really loud clanking noise from my front left wheel. I'm thinking ah crap, I screwed up something installing my springs yesterday. I pull over and look and 3 of the 5 lugs are loose and one of the bolts is broken off completely. Amazingly the lug was still in the hole, just not attached.

This doesn't really surprise me because I torqued my lugs yesterday after installing a spring, and you're supposed to retighten aftermarket lugs because they can come loose. well that was @#%% fast, 1 day and 20 miles, never had that problem before and I've removed my wheels 8-10 times before.

Anyways, my real question is replacing the bolt that broke off. Acura lists 4 bolts that could be the one I need.

017 90113-SA0-006 BOLT, WHEEL 10 2004 Acura TSX 4.07 3.46 Qty:
017 90113-SA0-025 BOLT, WHEEL 10 2004 Acura TSX 4.07 3.46 Qty:
017 90113-SM1-005 BOLT, WHEEL 10 2004 Acura TSX 0.70 0.59 Qty:
017 90113-S5H-005 BOLT, WHEEL (THAI MEIRA) 10 2004 Acura TSX 3.12 2.65

Each can be seen on Sunnyside Acura's website under the front brake diagram. I can't find the diagram in my Helm's manual. Anyone happen to know?

I'll hit up my Acura dealer tomorrow anyways, but trying to be informed when I go since I not betting they would know the difference either.

I ended up buying a stud from my dealer, was about $5. I start to do the install, but couldn't get off one of the screws on the hub which the helm's manual says is torqued to 120ft/lb!!! I bought an impact screwdriver and will probably tackle it next week.

ok, keeping an ongoing thread in case anyone ever has this same crappy problem.

to take off the rotor all you do is:

remove wheel etc.
remove 2 bolts holding the caliper to the hub (top and bottom), hang the caliper with a coat hanger
unscrew the 2 screws in the rotor, you probably need an impact screwdriver

and you're done. however to remove the studs, you need to take the hub off the axel, which includes taking off the giant nut. I haven't figured out what the size of the axel nut is yet, but I believe its 36mm as I've tried 32 and 34 and neither fit. Taking off the axel nut will have to wait a little bit however.

Damn! how much torque did you use to tighten the lug nuts?

didn't, lug came loose while i was driving and the wheel put enough pressure to snap it off

You shouldn't need to take the hub off, just knock the stump out and install the new stud- hint a few large washers and a new lugnut with a flat side to seat. It should take less then 15 minutes. FWIW the hub isn't going to just fall off when you remove that nut, there is a pressed in bearing which you will need a slide hammer to remove at which time you will probably rip the inner race out of the bearing. So just do it with the hub in place, its really much easier.

got there, tried that. there isn't enough clearence to remove the stud out of the back of the hub. it has to be removed, or the knuckle has to be cut. i prefer the removing it.

that's a bummer, I haven't done any studs or front end work on any TSX's yet to have any other insight. It looks like if you grind a flat side on the new stud it may fit, however its hard to tell from the picture. But be warned when you remove that nut the hub isn't going to come off easily, its going to fight!
