Breaks could be better

I was driving my 06 tsx yesturday down a road going to the mall. The signal turned red so i applied my breaks and they felt a little stiff. i was going about 45 and i had to press on them a bitter harder then i would think to , to get the vehicle to stop. I think the breaks could do a better job of stopping. My X5 feels like it has better breaking and its a SUV

on both counts

The brakes do have excellent pedal feel, which is something I am willing to give a couple of feet of braking distance for.

yeah i just read the title of this thread "Breaks could be better" and couldn't resist the urge to say:

SO COULD YOUR SPELLING!

and yeah man, my parents both have SUVs, an RX330 and an ML500. The Benz has really good brakes, though the RX330 seems comparable to my TSX, maybe it's a German thing

So could your grammar. That should be, "...seems comparable to my TSX. Maybe it's a German thing."

Try get a different set of tires first before going down the 'new brake system' road.
Tires contribute a lot with it comes to braking.

As already mentioned ... tires and brake pads.

I changed the OEM tires and the front/rear pads. I even kept the OEM rotors and have little to complain about now with stopping power.

My rear ones lasted about 22k miles and the fronts had plenty of pad material left on them when I swapped them out at around 25k miles.

Hah what a coincidence. I also used to drive my mom's x5 before I got my 06 tsx. And yes, the brakes on the tsx do seem somewhat weaker.

...also try using your gearbox to ease the braking required. Your pads will last MUCH longer!
