Braking and Overheating

Hi guys this is the first time i'm posting here, but I would really like some opinions. I was driving on the highway when a motorist flagged me to pull over. He noticed smoke comming out from under my engine. When i opened the hood indeed smoke, but thank god no fire was comming out. After taking a close look, I noticed a long strip on insulation rubber was frying from what looked like excess heat comming from the cars braking motors. Pardon my ignorance but I don't know what every part in my car is called. I will try to describe exactly what the situation looked like:

When you open the hood you see the engine, if you look ontop of the engine and then peek down u will see a large (what looks like the braking motors) connecting the 2 front wheels. There is about a 3 inch space between this "motor" and the cars front lower body. Infront of this front lower body is a stip of thick rubber, and it is this rubber that started frying from the heat comming from the "braking motor." My TSX is an 04 model and I've done 70K km on it.

I did some searching on the net and it seems the oem braking pads are not very good. But braking pads are on the side of the cars where the wheels are located. THis heating issue I saw seemed to be happening in the lower centre part of the car...the "braking motor?" Any thoghts will be greatly appreciated!

No idea what a braking motor is but I'd get to the dealer ASAP. Considering the time of year, not a good time fro this to happen.

You should have the car towed to the dealer. Don't try to drive it there as it can be very dangerous.

Btw, any pics of this "braking motor"? Perhaps you are referring to the brake disc?

If a picture is worth a thousand words then in your case take & post at least four pictures and I know the mystery will be solved. BTW - Do take the above sage advice to heart; do tow DO NOT drive your car to the dealership. Car fires burn a long, long time.
