Brake Pads squealing ....

Well not mine as im happy with the Hawk Cermaic pads.

He's got a set of brembo brake pads. Installed fairly recent. he's complaining that they squeal pretty bad, though they do stop and work well.

Is there anything that can be done to reduce the squealing? Would it be better to replace the pads for better ones or put some anti-squeal gel? but not sure if that will help if it dries up.

He's got a TSX as well...

My EBC's squeaked on and off for about 500 miles before they stopped completly. I'm guessing its from the break-in coating. Dunno if the Brembos have that...

Did you use anti-squeal on the shims?

Its just a grease that goes in-between the back of the pad and the shim. You can find it in any auto parts store.

There are 2 types of sounds. Squealing and moaning. Squealing is when the pad is vibrating against the caliper when you brake. You can minimise it by using more anti-sieze (temporary), or by adding a layer of anti-squeal between the pad and the shims, as well as at the contact points between the pad and the caliper (but not on the piston).

Moaning on the other hand is caused by the pad material being very aggressive. If you watch WRC rallying, you can hear their pads moan as they pull into their repair tent.
