Best way to disolve loctite?

Im deciding to remove the comptech short shifter so i can take my car in for service.

Car is having a really tough time gettin into 6th gear when engine just warmed up. Driving from my house to the freeway, my engine would be warm already. but its hard to get into 6th gear.

following the instruction manual of comptech, i use loctite in the short shifter where the shifter goes into the shorft shifter adapter. now its too hard to remove.

is there a chemical that can disolve or loosen the grip of loctite?

Are you able to get the set screw out? If its out, see if you can spray some penetrating spray in there. Give it a few minutes and grip the short shifter with a vise grip and try to work it back and forth.

finally got it out.

its not the screw thats tight. for some reason, comptech stated to pour loctite INTO the short shifter, then push it into the shifter. making loctite locking the short shifter to the shifter.

at first i thought how odd .. but ehh they made it. so i followed the instruction.

my advice : NEVER do that. just put locktite on the screws! because it's sooo hard to take out if you follow the instruction. i had to take the whole shifter out and basically pried it out.

for the future I would recommend WD-40 or acetone

Penetrating lube is not going to do much for you in this situation. You'd need a solvent of some sort. Acetone is a good suggestion. I think LocTite actually makes something to disolve there own product but may only be available industrially.
