I have a 06 tsx and I had to call roadside assitance twice already in only 2 months to get the car jump started. On the 2nd occassion, the road side assistance guy told me I needed to add distill water into the battery. *RED light? indicator on battery* I asked him to do it for me but he says he isn't allowed to.. I know where to add the water in but I don't Acura to void my battery warranty because I ripped of the sticker on top or anything but I don't want to drive 30 minutes just to have Acura add water into the battery.. ..Acura quality I guess..

Can I add the water myself .. without them bitching if I have a warranty problem later..?

Its a sealed battery, you shouldnt need to add water. If that indicator is red then the battery is bad, get a new one from the dealer.

Edit: Well I just looked at mine and it does say distilled water when its red. I would suspect its in the manual on how to do it?

If you look at the battery from the front, there is a opening in the battery case which you can see the fluid level. I believe the level is also marked. If the level is correct but the indicator on top calls for distilled water, then the battery is probably dead.

They are sealed units too. So if our batteries require water and/or cannot hold a charge our batteries will either be good or bad. I wonder why there is an indicator for water when its sealed?

Seems like I've seen where you can screw open each cell.........but has a plastic seal on them.

Just get an optima redtop and call it a day. Sealed, maintenance free, no liquid acid to leak out, 3x the cold cranking amps, much quicker starts, and many have gotten about 10 years out of one.

Warr. manual states that duiring the first 3 years battery will be replace free of charge.

Honda battery never last. But they are pretty consistant though. All the batteries for all my Honda die around 50k miles. Very consistant regardless the size.

Battery life is also dependant on how often and where you drive. The more often you drive on the freeway (allowing for the battery to be fully charged), the longer it will last... I live in Montreal, Que...and the winters can be tough on a car battery..... I changed the original Honda battery in my civic 97, in January 2005..... almost 8 years of life....

I only changed it because a neighbour (an Acura mechanic) suggested that I should change it after all these years .... he also ran a battery check on it, with one of his tools, it was still ok, but borderline...

now on my TSX, since I stored the car for the winter, I bought a battery maintainer ($40 from Canadian Tire), and had that on the TSX all winter... and when I took it out of storage at the beginning of this month, I just started it up without any problem....

These batteries definitely aren't the strongest. I've twice drained mine while doing things to my car with the stereo running. Last week I was installing my body kit with the radio playing, volume at about 20. Job took about three hours, but about two hours in the radio stopped playing. Dead battery!

I've never had this issue with other cars, and I always had aftermarket stereos in those. I'll be upgrading to something with more CCA at some point.

I had Acura check it out and they said it's NOT THE BATTERY. They charged it and it's holding charged. They said something else is draining the battery

They're going to hold the car to see what the problem is.......Acura quality...... and this is a 2006 too......shouldn't they had fixed all the bugs....

For what it's worth. A few weekends ago my dome light was left on [not by me] from friday around 10pm to sunday around 12am, so thats roughly 2 days almost. My brother left something in my car went to get it and left it on. Car started up with little hesitation and no problems since, I even had it checked out.

Perhaps the batteries are better then everyone thinks?

Got the car back and they said it was the battery......... Acura quality....battery dead at 3k miles.

I had my battery replace by warranty at 29K. It was slowly draining away to nothing...

I've had at least two occasions where my TSX took several attempts to turn over (last one took about 8 tries). This is on my 06 5AT that I've had for less than 1 month. I have it in for service, we'll see if they find a problem. I had a similar problem when I got my new 02 Toyota Solara 5 yrs ago, perhaps coincidentally they also replaced the battery.

FWIW: about a month ago I left a dome light on 3 nights in a row after working on my car and forgetting about it. 3 nights!!! Yes, I'm an idiot at times, but my battery is still going.

Doesn't mean I'm not going to swap to a red-top before winter though. Definitly doing that before it gets cold again.

I have an 06 tsx with NAVI, manual, with 11k miles on it. I started to experience what you guys are describing. In my case, if the car sits overnight, it will crank very slowly, however it will start the car. If I leave the car for about 4-5 days, it will not even crank. If I start the car within 3-4 hours, then its fine.

I put in a DVD player(didn't modify any stereo components), however I am sure its turned off before I leave. I can't imagine it draining so much juice out of the battery, so that the car will barely start the next day, when the player is completely off!! I'll try to pull out the player completely and see if it changes anything.

There is obviously something in the car that stays on. Something has to drain the juice out of the battery for it to crank weaker. I am pretty good about all the stupid things, like having the dome light on, etc. So it has to be something internal.

when the dealership replaced your battery, did this behavior stop, or does it still discharge if you don't drive the car for a while?

my 06 sits alot. Failed to start only one time(left the trunk lid open) It does turn over slower then I would like, but starts. tha battery(probably american made) is junk.

The indicator on my 04 w/ ~35K miles is saying it wants distilled water too. It seems to be behaving fine though. I called the service department and the guy told me to disregard it. Seems like an odd answer, the indicator is there for a reason, but given my their track record with my car thus far, I'm not surprised with the answer.

Glad to see I'm not the only one in the MTL area that stores his car... Which model trickel charger did you get at CT? I try and run the car regularly out of storage when the roads are dry but this last winter it stayed idle for 6+ weeks and did not start. Have used a friends charger and it is OK now but would like to buy a small one.

My experience with Honda batteries is at least 6 years before replacing them in harsh (-30C) winter environment. One this that makes a big difference is synthetic oil. Will go to that on the TSX eventually.

same problem with me, my car's 2 months old, cold day ALMOST didn't start.. just left the battery on for 30 minutes.. scared me a litlte.. but i took it on the highway right after for about 20 miles.. so no problems there

Thanks to JTso's help, I located an Optima Redtop 35 and replaced that POS Panasonic battery. You don't know the car can crank so nicely until a real battery is placed in there. $140 shipped from http://www.1st-optima-batteries.com

Funny you should say 50K miles. I just took my 2004 TSX (bought in late Apr 2003) in for its 50K service and they checked my battery and said I needed a new one. It seemed to be working fine though.

My mom's 06 TSX had her batteries replaced twice (under warranty). She would come out of shopping and couldn't crank the car. So far I haven't had trouble with my battery (finger's crossed). I don't know what it is - something draining the battery juice or poor battery construction.
