Thumbs up Back in for Maintenance

Odometer reads just over 14,000 miles. Apparently I am the first TSX to have this many miles that has come into Ed Voyles here in Atlanta, GA. They don't have any parts on hand for the TSX at all except the oil filter. I went in with the following list of things I wanted them to do:

Change Oil - DONE
Re-adjust Washer jets - DONE
Check the Brakes as they Vibrate - NO Rotors in stock. Will be in on Monday and they will replace the front Rotors under warranty
15,000 Maintenance - They don't have any of the other filters that they are supposed to replace in stock either. It will be in on Monday as well.

I was kind of shocked nobody has come in before me looking for stuff like this or to get the maintenance done. I guess I have driven a bit in the past 6 months, but oh well. They are very nice and changed my oil today and re-adjusted the washer jets and washed my car while I was there. I'll go back in on Tuesday for the rest of the work.

Car is running great though.

Well I guess I can say the same for my wife's 1991 Civic LX. For the first time in 13+ years I took it to the dealer (it has NEVER been to the dealer since delivered in August '91) to replace the timing belt (just a bit too tricky for me to attempt). Wouldn't you know it, it's worse now than when it went in. There was nothing wrong with the car I just thought I'd try to follow Honda's advice and change the timing belt before 90K (89K on the odometer). Now it has a terrible rattle/noise and my wife swears that the dealer cut the CV boot (found it trying to find the source of the rattle/noise) to make more money.
She just can't part with that car but any day now there might be a repair needed that's more than the car's worth and then it's time to look for another car. She sat in the Euro Accord (TSX) while at the dealer but she just can't get used to anything else other than her Civic. Hope she comes around soo....

Well she can get used to anything really, it's whether or not she wants to. I know how hard it is to get used to a new car (I do it about every 3 or 4 years it seems), but there's nothing like the feel of a new car, and how it handles performs and everything. Good luck!

what does the 15,000 mile service include? I need to get them to look at a bunch of stuff. Did Ed V give you any guff about the brakes? I need to get them to fix the vib noise when it hits vtec, my seat moving forward under hard breaking, door rattles, vibs in the breaks during high speed breaking, and thats about it. If the 15,000 mile thing is worth it I guess I might do that as well.

Well, I am not sure what all the 15,000 mile entails, but I know it involves replacing some filters and changing some fluids. They didn't have a print out for me at the time, but I plan on getting on on Tuesday when I go back.

I have had a lot of stuff wrong with my car that you have as well. I had the same problem with the seat going forward when I braked hard. I had them look at it but they could not find anything wrong or duplicate the problem. I solved it by moving the seat all the way to the back of it's position on the track, no longer does it move (and it's actually more comfortable for me).

I have a few door rattles, but those are easily fixed by rolling the windows down a bit. I might take the door panels off one day for the hell of it and check it out. I don't get any vibration when it hits vtec, but I really get up that high in the RPM's to notice it. I definitely have the vibration in the brakes on high speed braking. They said they would replace the rotors for me and that it would be under warranty. I wonder if they'll replace the brakepads as well...I'll find out Tues what all is going to get done.

Well I'm still waiting on my rotors. I haven't decided on the 15,000 mile maintenance yet, but probably won't get it.

They resurfaced my rotors, fixed some of the rattles, and ordered me a side bolster for the car.

Passenger side door rattle. Didnt rattle until the people removed the panel to tint the windows. The one rattle they didnt fix was the drivers side door control panel. When I take it in for the new side bolster I will get onto them about it. Those were the only rattles I have experanced.

You should here this. I got my car in Late may, and I brought my car back for the first oil change in early July! When they were changing the oil to my car, they were holding the manual, cuz i'm the first! Now my car is at 25,000km, almost at my 3rd or 4th check-up...God...

I'll be going in for my 15k service any day now. I'm at 14,800 but don't know when I'll get a chance to bring it to the dealer.

Well they finally got all the parts in for the 15k maintenance at Ed Voyles last Thursday. I dropped it off there at 10am and he said it should be ready after lunch. 1 pm came and no call. 2 pm came and no call. So at 3 pm I had been at work for 12 hours (was my last day working the night shift) so I had my friend take me up to the dealership. Come to find out they had forgotten about my car and have not done any of the work on it thus far. I was rather pissed, but they headed me off at the pass and gave me a 2003 TL-S loaner for the night while they did the work on my TSX. It was going to be ready that night, but he said that he did not want me waiting around for it, so to take the loaner and come back at my convenience tomorrow to get it.

I picked it up the next morning and immediately left for a trip to Asheville, NC for my birthday. I had no problems with the car and the 15k maintenance was worth it I think. They corrected the alignment problem that I have complained to them twice about before (they kept telling me it was my tire pressure being off...whatever). The car feels a bit peppier, and they replaced the rotors so the brakes feel just like they're brand new again. I'm happy with the outcome thus far...

Sorry I didn't see your post before Jason. I'm doing good, just been extremely busy with work (moving back to the day shift) and trying to get Sarah moved into her new apartment and everything that goes along with life. Things are going along fine though, how are things on the road?

Oh, and I drove the 2004 TL with navi, and now I want the navi in my TSX. You were right, I should have gotten it.

Are they replacing the side bolster on the seat? If so, what happened to it?

What changed with wanting the nav now?

I'm glad to hear everything is good. I've been real busy too. Keep earning those Benjamins!

What 15,000 maintenance are you all talking about? I was told there was no scheduled maintenance untill 100,000 except for oil changes.

Well, it's not scheduled, but Acura offers it. In my maintenance book I only had 10,000 then 20,000 then I think 50,000 and then 100,000, although I'm not so sure. However, I figured I'd take the 10 and 20 and push them into a 15,000 maintenance (which Acura had in their computer). You don'thave to get it, but it's up to you.

Yeah Jason, I've been doing ok. I want the navi because once I drove with it on in the car, I have a hard time realizing how I've been without it for so long. I just can't believe I never gave it a chance, and I was just naive about the whole thing. Just the thought of never not knowing where I am again, just tickles my fancy!

It tickles my fancy too. It's very difficult to be in a non-nav car now. That's the bitch of it: once you own it, you can't go back. It's been said time and time again by me and others. No worries man, your next car will have it!

Yeah I do remember that compass thread LOL.

I've been checking the forums lately to see what's been going on with the car. I'm amazed at how many issues came up, especially the 6MT dead transmission threads. Scary.

I'm glad my car has been holding quite well. How about yours.

Not that many miles (around 7K) ... but my TSX is still running great and in fact some of the "rattles" are now even gone. Guess it just had to work some things in to place
