AWFUL Acceleration Vibration - Please Assist

I have a 2006 6MT TSX with 44k miles on it. I recently have replaced the stock tires with new rubber; however, I have had this problem prior to the new tires.

My car will vibrate at pretty much all speeds above 35-40mph. It is intensified by higher RPMs. I notice the vibration mostly in gears 3-6. Also, when cruising along in 6th gear at 60mph, if I were to want to increase my speed to 65-70mph while staying in 6th gear then the car vibrates to increase the speed. It feels like the engine is bogging down if that makes any sense. I thought I might have some dirty injectors, I have run a couple of bottles of STP complete fuel system cleaner through it. It has not improved.

Any suggestions?

I'm no expert but maybe your axles are bad? search this forum for threads on axles. See if these symptoms you have are similar to those reported in the treads you will find.

It may be a bad CV (constant velocity) joint. The vehicle is still under factory warrantee so let the dealer figure it out.

Sounds like the front axles. Had the same problem. There's a place you can get a better, cheaper set. I think it's www.driveshaft.com or something like that.

Do the front axles just eventually go bad? That seems like a fairly drastic problem to have....

Besides, my problem occurs under power... when I increase the throttle it shakes. Especially at higher RPMs (5k or up).

No. but the CV joints are a wear point and if the boots rupture, dirt and moisture get inside and they fail. I don't know about drastic, but they don't last forever even if the boots are intact. Wear is a function of how ham-fisted you are with shifting, accelerating while turning, power on when driving over rough pavement, etc.

you can test axles .Drive about 40 mph in 4th gear on open road and do fast acceleration with out switching gears. It should start shaking badly . Also while it shakes press the clutch in it should stop shaking .If that is happening you need new axles.

It's under factory warrenty. Take it to them and say, "It's broke, make it work good and gimme a loaner while you work."

Just out of curiosity, how much would parts be if I were to replace what I need to replace? Roughly how many hours are required to complete this task?

Thanks,

That's a side. But maybe it's under a drive train warranty.

I would take it to a local mechanic and have him do it. I'm sure you can get it done under $400 total.

Search is your friend. Contact Excelerate for the deal on axles... FAR less than Acura and stronger than OEM.
