Airbag Sign?

i have '06 TSX. 5 speed automatic

on my drive everyday, (on D automatic mode), everytime i stop for red light, the air bag off sign comes on.

and when i put down gas and start going, the air bag sign goes off like normal.

however, when i come home and drive "stop" and "go" for garage parking, the air bag sign does not come on even thou i stop the car.

is this normal?

if not, what is wrong with it?

Why are you asking if this is normal? The only time your airbag indicator should be turning on is when you first start the car as part of the instrumentation check. If it blinks at all any other time you probably have a problem in the system somewhere. Your call as to whether you want to fix it or not.

If you really want to know what's wrong with it you'll have to make an appointment and have it checked. Probably a loose wire or connector since the indicator is only intermittant.

This is the airbag sign in the gauges, and not the passenger airbag light underneath the hazard light button, right?

If it is, do you have stuff in your passenger's seat?

my mistake...

today it was fine. last night i remember putting books (5~10 pounds) on my passenger seat.

it reminds me of one of acura video i watched online, where the guy talks about the Acura Airbag system.

it detects the weight on the seat, and in my case it was the books, and that's why the passenger side airbad sign was on when i stopped for red lights.

thanks for the answers thou

I'm confused here.. In the manual it says something to the effect as the only time the passanger airbag light will illuminate is when you first start the car... then it will stay off (REGARDLESS of having a passenger or not). So why does the passenger airbag light turn on and off while I'm driving around with my backpack on the passenger seat? Or did I just read the manual wrong?

Can someone give me some detail here? Pretty please?

It's detecting some weight on your passenger seat, but it is not enough to be the weight of a real passenger. Hence the light comes on to let you know that it has disabled the airbag. When driving, I think "airbags on" overrides the misread weight for safety.

But just to make sure I'm 100% clear here. It's notifying my (like you said) that the passenger side airbag is disabling by turning on a few seconds then off. But in any case, it should never stay illuminated (regardless of having a passenger or not). Correct?

it will only stay illuminated when it detects the weight of a child in the passenger seat... or something like that... prolly less than 40lb i think it says... i'm not sure of the exact number read the manual.

Whenever the light is illuminated the passenger airbag is disabled (it stays illuminated as long as it's disabled). If you have an adult sitting in the seat and the light is on then you have a problem.

Last 2 posts above were exactly correct. I had my niece in the the front pass. seat and the light came on untill she got out. She was too small for the airbag so it disabled.

My wife sits in the car all freaking retarded sometimes and the light comes on. Its disabling as well because she's not sitting properly.
