Buy a ballast kit from www.theretrofitsource.com they include all wiring to make it plug and play. I myself am looking at gettin the Morimoto 3five kit as my passenger ballast is dimming.

What advantage would OEM have over a reputable aftermarket kit? Moriomoto and Denso are both high end ballasts.

you won't have to do any custom wiring or drilling for starters. You'll have to figure out where to mount the new ballasts. The OEM ballast will be a direct replacement and won't look like some shade tree mechanic half ass fixed your car.

you'll start by custom wiring this ballast in, then in 2-4 years (if that long) you could be rewiring it again when you get the next aftermarket ballast. then if/when you go to sell the car that will raise a lot of red flags to the right people that you didn't fix your car properly for something as simple as a ballast.

new OEM ballasts are around 75-80 through ebay. that's not even two gas fill ups for me.

TRS ships adapter harnesses with all ballasts. No wiring needed. Things is pairs should be replaced in pairs, do you buy 1 shoe at a time? I dont want mismatched HIDs due to variances in ballasts. They warranty the product for 2 years. I see no down side to aftermarket ballasts, I have aftermarket bulbs so why not ballast. If my aftermarkets die then I can always unplug them and buy OEM. Lesson learned.

there is no reason to replace ballasts in pairs. I understand replacing the bulbs in pairs as they have gas in them and do color shift with age. but a ballast is a ballast. it puts power to the bulbs to start and keep them running.

are you sure they include vehicle specific harnesses? that you can just plug it into the factory wiring with no modifications?

how do you plan to mount the aftermarket ballast? I doubt it'll fit in the OEM location without modification. the oem ballast mounts to the bottom of the headlight and the ignitor wire goes through a large hole in the bottom that the ballast itself seals.

I'm sure you could make it work with aftermarket parts, but my time is worth more than the few dollars you save.
