AC problem prevention
AC problem prevention
So everyone seems to be having these condensor problems...is there any precautionary measures you can take to avoid them? Ill drop some coin upfront to have overkill service done if it means i have less of a chance of a 2k AC repair down the road....

I don't think you should worry. Look at your refrigerator in your house. It is the same system with the same equipments. The frig is running 24/7 non stop for god knows how long.
P.S. This was what my mechanic told me.

and you need a new mechanic, lol.
Yeah, you need a new mechanic. At least for a/c stuff anyway. A...the fridge doesn't run 24/7. The compressor kicks on as needed to cool the interior. If it does, I need to start working for your power company so I can drive a new truck every year. Your electric bill would be through the roof. B...the fridge (and any other a/c compressor) can run reliably for years on end if they're used regularly. Reason being, the lubricating oils are contained in the freon (refridgerant) and as long as the compressor is run regularly, the parts stay lubricated. This also helps to keep your seals from drying out and dry rotting over time. As long as you run the compressor for at least 10 minutes at least once a week, you should be alright. And that's not 2 minutes on Monday, 2 minutes on Tuesday, etc.... You need to let it run for at least 10 minutes. Other than that, it's pretty much a maintenance free system. If you live in a dusty area or have lots of pollen, change the cabin air filter every 10k miles or so. It's easy enough and there's a few DIYs here on the site with pictures to explain how it's done.
