5AT Problems??
Is anyone having problems with their 5at? I don't know if its because I've been driving manual before this, but I wondering if you 5AT guys could tell me if these are "normal" -
- Coming to a complete, quick stop, and then jumping right back on the accelerator at about 50% throttle, the engine revs go up, and then the tranny finally catches with a lurch. A really rough lurch. To avoid this, I have to stop for a full second, and apply partial throttle to get a smooth take off.
- In SS mode, with the revs at about 5k in a steady state cruise (for instance, when getting ready to pass). When applying WOT from this, do you guys get momentary rise in revs, then a noticeable dip in revs (100-200rpm), then normal acceleration? I think its the torque converter doing its job, but is the dip that noticeable for you guys?
I just think its weird seeing the tach go backwards when I've got my foot through the firewall....
I'm trying to figure out if my tranny has problems, so I can take it in before my warranty is up. I have 36k miles on my car and I had acura do an full tranny oil change at 28k miles.
Thoughts?

I don't have that problemo, and with 48k on the odo it's still silky smoove. It does sound a lil problematic to me.
I wonder if they used the wrong fluid in your tranny? i.e. ATF vs. ATF w/SS different additives?

Just to add, I also hear a ringing/whirring sound in the upper part of the revs (5k or above) under 75%-WOT application.
The tranny is still smooth under normal operation, but in those situations I mentioned, it seems to operate in a less than Acura/Honda-like manner. It still irks me that revs actually go down when I jump on it, like the converter is slipping or something.
If you guys don't feel or hear any of this, then I think I have to take it in. I'm starting to suspect I have a problem with my torque converter.
do you guys that know about auto trannies have any insight if this is actually the case?
