2006 TSX Speed-sensing windshield wipers?

Hello all,

I own a 06 TSX (non Nav) and was wondering if anyone can explain how the Speed-sensing windshield wipers work. According to the manual, in Int. mode it should automatically increase or decrease the wiper speed when drivnig. I have driven the car a number of times in the rain (highway and street) and it doesn't work.

I do have this option activated in my personal settings.

Thank you in advance for your help.

The bottom line is, they don't work all that well. I've owned my 06 for nearly 7 months and each time I use them for rainy days, they do nothing but annoy me as the speed is at best, random. If I were you, I'd turn them off and go back to the old way of using them which IMO, is better.

they work for me, if you have it in int mode and adjust the int. time with the little turning collar when you come to a stop they slow down while you're at a red light...

i don't thikn they're as much 'speed sending' as 'motion sensing' because they slow down when you're stopped at a light, and don't speed up till ur like over 5mph...

Here's the trick:

When it's raining, set your wiper to an intermittent speed that actually suits whatever speed you're travelling at. Don't expect the car to adjust the initial speed. You're the one responsible for setting the initial speed.

After that, the speed sensor works just fine.

The reason it's not perfect is because the rain is very inconsistent(not the car!).

Unless the '06 system is different than my '04, the system only senses when you come to a stop and increase (slows down the wipers) the interval that you have currently set for driving (moving) in the rain. My does NOT speed up or slow down while moving and/or with an increase or decrease in the amount of rain.

I agree that they were a big let down. I expected a lot more out of them. Acura shouldn't be marketing them a speed sensing wipers when they appear to only have two real settings (moving and not moving). Maybe we should start a class action suit for the false advertising!

I drove around for an hour in the rain to try to figure this out. It's motion sensing not speed sensing.

If your stopped and set it at a certain speed, once you start moving the wipers speed up. Now wether your going 10 miles or 140 miles the wiper speed remains the same until under 3 miles in which they will slow down as you originally set it when stopped.

After playing around with them last night, I must admit, they ARE a huge let-down. At some point I even concluded that they're more RPM sensitive than Speed sensitive! I drove at 4000 rpm and once I switched the gear they stopped working!!!

I think this was a school project done by the CEO's teenager kid and he decided to market it just to make the kid feel better!

Funny feature nontheless!
