2006 TSX Check Engine Light
I just got the Check Emission System light in my car. My dumbass friend pulled out something from the intake, then plugged it back in.
Should I take it to the dealer and let them deal with it, or do I just have to disconnect my battery?

Thanks man, I'll check everything again tomorrow, just irritates me that he'd just randomly pull something out, then cause such a minor distraction that pisses me off so much in a car -__-;;
I was too angry to say anything today. =P

Check Emission System
I just got the Check Emission System light on too. It's been raining and that might have caused it but does anyone know who to reset it? I did a search and no luck.

Doubt the rain had anything to do with it. Make sure nothing got disconnected in your engine bay, and if everythings okay, drive around for a week or so. If it doesn't disappear, take it to the dealer.
I would just disconnect the battery and be done with it. There is probably nothing wrong. For cheap you can get a code reader that will reset the CEL. I keep one in the glove compartment, though I have not had to use it yet

If he disconnected the IAT connector from the intake while the engine was running or ignition on, the CEL will not go away by itself until the code is reset by a scan tool or disconnecting the battery. There isn't anything else on the intake that will trigger a code.

Haha thanks Mike, I'll keep that in mind, but after 8 months since I've made this thread, the light's gone.
I had a problem with the check emission system light coming on once too. I was hooking up my V1 to my autodimmer and idiotically didn't realize that i was supposed to have the thing off while i attempted to mess with the any electrical system (as if i didn't learn the first time, when I tried to install my maplight LEDs and did it with the car and lights on and blew a fuse)
. Needless to say I blew a fuse but luckily I had a spare fuse from the kit I bought for after I blew the first fuse from before and just replaced the blown one. After that though when I turned the car on, the Check Emissions System thing came up. I was worried as hell that it wouldn't go away, but after about half a day i think (probably driving the car 3 or 4 small trips around town and to campus) it went away on its own
i dont think you need to worry too much about it since nothing was acutally changed. make sure whatever he unplugged is seated properly like it was before and just let it fix itself on its own after it figures out nothing is wrong
P.S. I used to live in Baltimore. Where in MD do you live? Where did you go to high school?

Either that, or you have a faulty gas cap. In my experience, this may or may not remedy itself.
In Nissans it takes a good amount of key cycles to rid the code. Not sure in Honda's.
