2004 Nav HU issues

Hi, all.... our 2004 5AT Nav has been a very trouble-free car (except for door rattles that I fixed).

But a couple months ago the HU lighting went out per the TSB that's been noted.

The dealer, Ron Tonkin Acura, replaced the HU under warranty no problem.

But the new HU skipped far more often than the original. Acura didn't hassle me about it, just went ahead and replaced it with a third HU.

Well, the button illumination on the 3rd HU has NEVER worked (the display up top DOES work, though...)

Also, it looks like they used Suburban Chevrolet's Trunk Monkey to do the R & R. There is a huge scratch on the silver trim inside the steering wheel column and there are also a couple of other scratches, dents, and mars on the plastic that weren't there before.

Finally, it looks like the mechanic opened the door and hit a sharp corner of one of his Snap-On toolbox drawers.

See pics at http://kward1.homestead.com/TSXdamage.html

Now it's Friday - he told me that the part (door handle) would be in this week for the door and they would replace it. I called today to find out why he hadn't called (it's because "they didn't tell me the part has arrived"). It's supposed to arrive today or Monday.

Then he forgot to schedule my loaner (that HE told me I would get) so he wants it on Monday the 15th so he can give me a loaner. I could have an Enterprise rental car next week, but I know that Acura doesn't authorize anything cool without me paying the difference, so I will take the loaner.

Dumbass mofos.

I was going to install my Icelink cradle on a Panavise mount and shoot pics of it, but I don't wnat to install anything until these jerks fix the marred as scratched panels.

I used the term "CSI" already with the service writer... for "customer satisfaction index".

Man... that sucks. It didn't even look like they were the least bit careful.
At least they are paying for the repairs instead of trying to say that they were already there when they got the car.

Hey elduderino......if you dont mind me asking, what is the last 6 digits of your vin? The reason I am asking is, under the TSB, it lists a certain vin range. I bought my car back in May 04 and I am out of the vin range. My HU works just fine etc, but it seems like there are people out of the TSB vin range having problems with their HU as well. I hope this bug doesnt creap up on my after my warrenty expires.....$2000+ for a new headunit =
