07 navi a/c controls

hey guys when I want to change the temp of the incoming air from the vent I always have to go to the A/C controls to turn on the fan first to change the temp....also when I turn on the fan the A/C automatically turns on...am I retarded or is there a simpler way to adjust the temp

I've tried those...they won't adjust the temp unless the fan is already on.

if the system is off, it's off.
nothing can adjust the temperature if the system is off.

A/C doesn't always have to be on.
there's an A/C on/off button in the control screen.

if the system is off, the air coming through the vents is whatever temperature it is.
you can't regulate it, because you have the system shut off.

if you want to cool the incoming air, the A/C has to be on, it doesn't cool magically.

the easiest thing for you to do is just turn auto on and use the temp arrows to get
the temp you want.
the fan will shut off or dramatically slow down once the correct temp is reached.

our cars actually have fairly exceptional dual climate controls vs. other cars.

Yeah, I always hit auto and then adjust to the temp I want. It doesn't get much easier then that.

What the OP wants to do is to be able to leave the system off with the recirculator off. That way, as the car moves, air will circulate through the vents so you can get some circulation without having to open the windows and mess up your hair. And, as the weather is presumably getting cooler out, the OP wants to be able to raise the temperature of that air without turning the system on. In my last car I could do that, but I don't think you can with the Acura. I'm going to miss being able to do that this winter.

yes, I understand what he wants.
he wants to turn the heater off, and turn the a/c off.
he only wants the regular vents to be working, with no
heating or cooling system on at all.

yet he wants the air either heated or cooled, with no heater or
a/c unit turned on.

not possible.

I think he wants to operate the system like an old 80's or 90's car.

Acutally, it is possible. When I left out this morning I had to use the defroster on the front window to clear some condensation. I had the defroster mode selected with the temp on Hi, and manual fan speed control. But, as it was quite pleasant out, I didn't need to use the climate control for anything else. So after the windshield was cleared, I turned the system off (just pushed the off button, didn't make any other adjustments.) A few miles down the road, I noticed it was getting quite toasty in the car. There was hot air coming out through the defroster vents under the windshield and on the dash. I had to turn the system back on, lower the temp and turn it back off to get it back off. So it seems that the system will leave the air handler at whatever position it was in the last time it was used and turn off the recirculator unless you push the recirc button.
