04 tsx o2 sensor

Hey everybody...new user /tsx owner here.

I've got a 2004 tsx automatic transmission and my check engine light came on about 2 weeks ago...it went away after a day but came on and has stayed on since. I went to Acura and paid the 50 bucks to get it looked it, they said it was my primary o2 sensor...before the cat. My question is, where can I get a good price on one? Acura wanted to charge an arm and a leg.

Also is it possible to get a navi for the 04? I think I've seen some but wondering if it can be retrofitted with one?

I had the same thing happen... I ponied up and bought the OEM sensor from a dealer for $220 CAD taxes incl. (friends' employee discount, ie: near-cost).

The DIY is SIMPLE. I didn't ahve any problems doing it with a good wrench. No need for an O2 sensor socket or anything.

I took the liberty to remove the rusted-to-hell upper and lower catalytic covnerter heatshields off at the same time, since they were making noise because the fasteners had partially let go because of the rust.

FYI, you might be able to retrofit a generic O2 sensor but they aren't much cheaper, and involve very accurate splicing of the wires, etc. The OEM one comes with wire, anti-seize, and is simply plug-n-play and includes the plug and everything. Its worth it, IMO.

I believe there is a bosch wideband sensor that would work, but I would just go OEM. I think the OEM specs at $230 and the bosch is $200. Pick your poison at that price.

Just make sure its a 4-wire wideband at least as wide spec as OEM.

Have you thought about the local junk yard? You might get a used one from an 04-05 for about 75% cheaper or more if you pull it your self. You just might have a 1 out of 500 bad O2 sensor. Most folks will own a car for +150,000 without any problems with a O2 sensor.

There is a 8 year/80,000 miles emmissons warranty on the TSX. I don't know if the O2 sensor would be covered or not.

I've had success with this vendor:

sales@automedicsupply.com

Their price and service are unbeatable.

FYI, I don't work for them.

It went on my 05 at around 51K. The dealer replaced it under warranty (good will). It would be interesting to hear from others that had to replace it; it may be more common than we think (and I'd be curious to hear how many TSX's there are lying around in junk yards).

only person i know that had to replace his TSX o2 was because he hit something and it smacked right on the sensor and screwed something up. other than that, seem pretty long lasting - i say find a used one.

costs of acura oxygen sensor varies - depends on where you purchase and as to what kind. there are OEM and universal sensors.. as to where - try looking at ebay, lots of great finds at great deals; or look at some online stores.. there are loads of oxygen sensor in the market I'm sure you'll find one.. good luck..

there are loads of sensors on the market yes, but only the bosch 4-wire wide band is going to be a good replacement that won't immidiatly throw fault codes. i had a thread on this a while ago and JTso educated us all on the differences, search should pick it up.

Thanks for the replies....I got the part for 245 plus tax and got a friend of a friend who works for honda to put it in for 25...so 310 total. Sucks I had to replace it in the first place but I'd rather pay the 310 than the 450 before tax to acura!
