Exclamation 04 Navi Issue

Hello all....I went to my local dealer to take a look at the 09 and we are scheduled to go back in to get a quote on a trade in with the 04.

Problem is I got in the car today after lunch and I got the "DVD disc read error" on the nav. Never had an issue. Stock Nav not modded in anyway. It is out of warranty and wanted to see if anyone else came across this issue. I checked the DVD disc and it looks great. I am supposed to bring it in on Friday so I need some help.

Any ideas. I went into the diagnostics menu and tried to load the disc but it says to "check disc"

Thanks in andvance any info would be greatly appreciated

Hi,

I am having the same issue on my 05 . During my recent trip to the delaer i asked them to check they said it will cost $150 as i am out of warranty ( to look into the navi console).. The technician took out the Disc and inserted again initially it showed the Boot up screen and then it showed the error " DVD Disc read Error please consult your dealer"..

I never took out the DVD before..I am thinking of taking out and buring a copy and try with the copy...

Thanks

Hi,

I was searching in this forum and of late (in the past month or so) lot of people in TL forum complained abt the Nav DVD giving the same error.

Some suggested to use the CD Cleaner Disc ..I will try this and post back my findings..

I am little concerned that i might need to enter the codes after i reconnect it again..

Is there a way to get the codes from the Navigation System ( it is already connected..)

I am unable to get these instructions to work..

1) Turn the ignition switch to ACC (I).

2) Turn on the audio Unit, and make sure you see CODE in the upper display. If you don't see this message, pull the backup fuse for 1 minute and then go back to step 1)

3) Turn off the audio unit.

4) Press and hold the top halves of the SEEK/SKIP and CH/DISC bars, and then press and release the PWR/VOL knob. this display toggles between two screens.

5) The first screen displays a U and the first four digits of the serial number

6) The second screen displays an L and the last four digits of the serial number.

7) Ignore the U and L and note down all eight digits.

I tried this and i never got the CODE in the upper display..

Where is the backup fuse located ??

Thanks

I get that DISC read error everyonce in a while. I generally ignore it, and then it goes away. I think cleaning the disc, or taking it out and putting it back in should suffice.

Unless you lost power (like a battery died), you should not need to re-enter the code. But, you should have the code on the owner's section of the TSX webpage.

I am planning to send my Nav Drive to Alpine and once i get it back i need to enter the Nav Code (i guess). So i want to make sure i have the code before i send it to them..

I checked the Owner's page and it doesn't show any codes..We have to enter them in case we loose the codes ( we can retrieve from there)..

Thanks

Hi All,

I have removed the nav DVD Drive from my car and i am planning to send it to Apline for repair..

One thing i have noticed is the part number (39540-SEC-A020-M1) and i can't find this part number any where ?? when i checked the acuraoemparts site i part number that is listed there is:

39540-SEC-406 DVD UNIT, NAVIGATOR (ALPINE)

why i have a different part number ??

I tried contacting Alpine reg different part number and they are open only monday-friday !!

Thanks
