Serious question though- does a completely stock TSX wearing an A-spec badge fall under the same ricey category??
I would say so...Gotta have the body kit, spension and wheels to qualify.

If I had an M3 I'd take the badges off. If you don't know by the twin exhausts then you deserve to be smoked.

I actually prefer the badges, I like the "don't fuck with me" appeal

But what if you had an a-spec and decided to change the wheels? Or have the suspension even lower- but the car was a-spec'ed from the dealer? I dunno, sort of a gray area for me with the A-spec thing. Having a TSX-R - now that's ricey.

My question is why are people still suprised by R badges. Id' figure everyone would be over them after seeing them for years on every car possible.

I dont understand why youd want to put the Honda Accord badges on a TSX, Since there is already a "U.S." accord. Its not nearly as neat or clever as changing to "Integra" badges on a RSX or Altezza badges on a Lexus IS.

I agree that no one should ever put TSXR on their car, but IMHO, if you take away those small pieces of emblems, what you have left is a nice tsx with the oem kit. As for the wind deflectors, as tacky as they are to other individuals, it is afterall functional (as oppose to some horrendous body kits). I suppose the owner does deserve some kind of contructive criticism, but I didn't expect such extreme responses haha.

At least they debadged the Acura emblem off one side, then just tastelessly tacked an extra emblem on the other since.

Either: factory badge or debadge! Dont hack and piece together badges! That is just as stupid as me cutting half of my Chevy Tahoe emblem and tacking its pieces onto my TSX. Oh just imagine the stupid possibilities! Z-TSX-71, TSX-HOE, TAHOE-SX, CHEVRO-TSX-71.

Maybe I can make mine a super horsepower hybrid! Get Vette emblems for extra horsepower, better yet Lambo! Then Toyota hybrid emblems for great gas milage, and Rolls Royce emblems so I can ride in luxury! Ooooh, just imagine those combinations!

I just noticed the dumpster in the corner of the pic. I want to say how appropriate, but how could I just say to trash a CG like that. Pry the badges off and tack them on the dumpster. Put the wind deflectors on the dumpster too, to make it more aerodynamic.

Hmmm maybe that is what this is all about all along! Aerodynamics! He must have a next generation Comptech super secret supercharger under his hood and he is just maximizing his aerodynamics for the ultimate performance! Damn, should have known it all along. Now I feel really stupid for flaming this car.

Oh so ugly.... TSXR indeedy.... TSXRice! The badges were bad enough, but if you do badges to look cool and then put on the protectors and deflectors, it gets a bit silly. Kind of like the old 1980's engineers with their pocket protectors trying to look cool and live on the edge by drinking tap water.

I completely agree with everyone here --- the 'R' badges on there are ridiculous. However, let me just play devil's advocate for a second...

If the "hate" on this guy is due to the improper use of emblems, why then is it ok for the JDM blokes on this board to rebadge as Euro-R's? The Euro-R sports a K20a (which produces more max HP and has a different compression ratio than our TSX's K24a), is right-hand drive, and is only available in a 6MT. If we were to get really technical here, couldn't one say that the JDM re-badgers are "fakin' the funk" too?

Now... before any potential flamers want to chime in, let me also say that I really dig the JDM look, so I'm not criticizing anyone here on the board. Also, the car in question here is also re-badging as a car that doesn't even exist, so they *are* in different discussions. However, I do want to get some feedback from some of the forum... although it's not quite the same point that CGEarl was trying to make, I do believe there is a "grey" area...

response to devils advocate. the reason it is ok for those that rebage JDM is atleast speaking for myself. I am rebadging to a exterior look that I wanted. If it had been available for purchase in the US that way I would have bought it. So I am just trying to get a model that honda decided to not sell in the United States.

Remember, however, and I posted this on the other board... that the Euro-R exists. There is no TSX Type-R and I can only assume the point of this "conversion" is to make people (not us, but uninformed people) think his car is faster. Which is pretty much the definition of rice.

Huge mufflers without full exhaust systems, high wings that have no point, and in this case, a TSX-R badge, are all rice because they are designed to create the impression the car is something it is not, in this case; fast.

I would agree, however, that if the only thing you do to your car is rebadge Euro-R its silly... not as rice, but silly.

Yeah, rebadging your TSX as a "TSX-R" is way sillier than rebadging it as a "Euro-R." (*cough* CCColtsicehockey *cough*) Just another method of trying to convince passersby that you have something that you don't.

a real friend would give it to him straight. Does creating a car name count as a mod... I don't think so.

I'm going to return my car to stock and have a custom badge made that says "Cardboard"... and I will have the first Acura "Carboard"... lol and I'll just tell everyone that makes fun of me they are being shortsighted because I moded my car to what I want and it's unique

I had a feeling the owner or friend of the owner would see this...

This post reminds me of a thread on honda-tech where a person was bragging that he was cheating on his girlfriend and one of her coworkers gave her a link to the thread .

Another one -- also on HT, a guy saw his stolen civic's turbo kit for sale in the classifieds.
