trim strip to protect from dents

I am thinking of putting a matching exterior trim strip on my TSX's doors to protect from dents and dings. I also think it will give the car a little more character. Does anyone have any feedback or pic's that I could see before I make my decision. Any pic's would be appreciated my e-mail is:

rosska_1865@yahoo.com

Thanks

Do you mean something like the body side molding strips available for G35 Coupes? Might look good on the TSX... but depends on where they'll be placed and how thick/thin they are.

Maybe someone can do a photochop for ya?

Why is the body molding an option for the TL, but not the TSX?

I am talking about a horizontal strip to go along the doors of the TSX similar to the stips on the TL but placed lower similar to the BMW 3 series. If anyone has any suggestions or can tell me where I can find such a thing let me know

Maybe you're thinking of something like this (but for the TSX)?

that is it. I want to add body molding to my TSX where can I get it. One of the main reasons I want it is to protect my car from dent and dings. My last car was a 5th generation prelude and I could not park without walking back to another ding, plus I like the look.

OK...I always thought I was the slow guy....

Acura sells the body molding as an option for the TL....according to NeoChaser...the option is available for the TSX too.

So....I would guess you can get it at your local dealership ~

opps my bad..

to make it clear...

1. the one i that acura sell was "door edge trim" which is the peice that goes on the edge of
ur dors

2. HOWEVER i did see pics of tsx with side molding like that g35, so i guess it's aftermarket
and i remember it looked :sqnteek: on the tsx...

I would still think that they have the option for the TSX if they do for the TL though

I called my dealer in houston today and he said the molding is not available for the tsx i asked if there was another cars molding that would work, like the molding on the TL, but he said it would not work. I guess I am going to have to go aftermarket. If anyone could send or show me some pic's or possibly let me know where I could get such a thing it would be greatly appreciated.

I agree...the doors on the TL don't appear to be that much bigger, also when I saw the TL with the molding on..there was plenty of room on the doors where the trim was not even on it.

Honestly, I don't think body side molding really work. Most of the time, they're too low to make that much of a difference. Plus, the way the TSX doors are shaped, you'd have to place them fairly high up for them to be effective and then they just look like

It also depends on which door they open too...if they slam a rear door into your car, chances are the part that hits is pretty close to your door handle height... to those people I say

I would love to put the TL molding on my TSX I think it looks sleek and adds alot to the car. I love my TSX but like others have said it is a little bland. I think the TL molding would really wake it up. I just need to know where to get it then I will post pic for everyone to form their true opinion. People keep saying it does not work but I know first hand I had a Honda Prelude that had a new dent everyday beacuase of the lack of the molding.

I've had my TSX for a year and is just a weekend car due to the fact that it doesn't have body side moldings to give me a piece of mind when driving it around and parking it. Sure, the moldings are not going to save it from the high door dings but its basic protection from those drivers that park next to you and accidentally open their doors too wide touching your door. I see a lot of RSXs with really bad door dings which I think could have been prevented if they had moldings. I did a search on Acura TSX body side moldings and came up with this site http://www.dawn-ent.com/molding/pntmld.htm. There is a pic of a TSX with the moldings and it actually doesn't look bad. What do you guys think?

It's not worth it

1. The design of the doors nowadays, the top of the door bulges out much more than where the strip goes, so if someone hits your door it will most likely not be where the strip is, therefore those strips are irrelevant.

2. they look dumb

3. I posted in ramblings a little while ago, how my car was hit...it left a 1 inch wide, 3 feet long strip of white paint on my door. However, I could use water and my finger to get the paint off...once I did, I realized underneath all of this paint, there was no scratch, dent, whatsoever....so i pushed a little on the door, and it gave a lot, like more than any car i've ever tried this on, so, in conclusion, the other reason not to get the strip would be that the panels are so well made, (dent resistant), that its not really worth it.

So, has anyone even gotten a dent on their car yet? If so they must've gotten wacked! My integra was flawless when I loived up north, but these florida drivers suck, i've gotten like 5 dings here in 6 months on teh integra...the teg has ridiculously fragile panels, they dent like nothing...and yeah, i have that strip, and it hasn't protected anything. The TSX, however, continues to shine...no dents at all

So far in the 12 mos I've owned my silver TSX, it still has no door dings and bumper scratches. It has very minute swirl marks/lines due to the dealers washing it after service even though I refuse it.... bastids...

it's really minor..and can see it at the right angle and can feel it. It's right above my passenger rear wheel fender, where the crease is

all these new cars im notiing dont have these strips anymore. example: new 5-series. i think it looks kinda dumb now that im used to seeing some cars without it. also, my older honda had those strips on the doors and there were dings all over the doors and the trim strips looked smooth as new. i dont think they really even do anything

+1 Definitely agree on him on this one. I believe TSX were mirrored to be the same style and lexury with some of the BMWs and Mercedes.

So I believe this is why Acura opt out on side door strips. I had the Galant with door strips for 3 yrs and there about 4 dings total.

So having strips will protect your door sides to certain degree. Chances of parking next to a Minivan or SUVs are high ....so... based on my personal experience of 10 yrs of driving... Dont park next to Minivans or SUVs !!!! ...Having strips can only protect certain angles anyway...You will still get dings regardless. . .

The only to avoid dings is park smart and think twice where you park... its only a $30k dollar car anyway...

DOOR DINGS PISS ME OFF TO NO END. PEOPLE ARE SO IGNORANT AND APATHETIC TO OTHER PEOPLES CARS!!! ARGHHH, My Rsx S has a nasty door ding, that i saw happen. I watched the girl open the door into mine. Size of a quarter. So in short, Door dings get under my skin.

I remember reading somewhere, don't know if its on here or not but someone had taken the mouldings off of the accord and put them on. I thought I had saved the pic but I can't find it anymore

A pic of the TSX with aftermarket side moldings are on this thread (see post #14):

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...ight=side+dent

They had pics of a botched self install job, but it looks like those pics are down.
