Playing around with photoshop

I took some abstract pictures tonight and then played around with them in photoshop. Here are some of the things I came up with.

This is my favorite

Don't be to harsh on them I am just learning.

Most of the time... then again, I work for IBM. As far as laptops go though, you can beat the sturdyness of these machines. The "Hunks" of metal that attach the screen to the body of the laptop are a good indication of how well these machines are made.

Both of my friend player guitarrrr. Yours are quite nice, too. Both of mine are wayyy to contrast-y but I'm experimenting.

So how the hell do you do this abstract art thing? Do you just make the color black and white and cut out the stuff that was in color and place it back in the pix? Am interested to know if someone can elaborate on this, ccc?

I think he uses layers, as he described it for me. So make a copy of your picture and layer it on top of the other. You'll need to isolate the thing that you want to make in color and then B/W the rest. Sorry if I'm not too descriptive, but I'll CCC clarify this.

Why not? Freedom of speech/press, baby!

BTW, I like the last shot you took, of the TSX. Nice dynamic composition. Layers are a lot of fun to mess around with.

You make a layer (copy) of the original. You then select the part of the image you want to stay color, then desaturate the background of the original, merge them, et voila! This is a simplistic explanation, but essentially the gist of it.
