Painted 07 Oem Rims
Hey guys I saw Jaeshim's thread on how he painted his rims. I think they looked pretty good; therefore, I decided to try it myself. This took about a good day. With the help with 3 other friends, of course. Anyways let me know what you guys think. I also helped my friend paint his 3 series rims graphite. Enjoy guys. All comments welcome. Oh yeah and sorry I don't have any pictures with the rims on the car. I will post some tomorrow!

haha GREAT looking man
from that sanded rim picture, i can just tell how much sanding u did....haha good sanding right there
next step is to lower with some Teins...and i bet it will look 1000000000000000 times better than the Bimmer

I just don't understand why your friend painted them black? He owns a fucking bmw not a civic...

I Quit
I think it's a good idea and a great cheap mod to look different. But I think the execution is wrong. IMO if I wanted to make my stock wheels black I'd have them professionally powder coated which would most likely hold up to the elements better than duplicolor and be nice and shiny lol. But for what you did, and how you did it, it came out good! I'm just to afraid to paint my wheels haha

yes the rims were sanded down. primered with many coats. painted black with many coats and then clear coated a few times.
i thought it looked pretty good on jahshims car so i did it on mine. hopefully i can save up enough to actaully get new rims

i don't know if it's the lighting, or what, but the gunmetal on that bimmer looks uneven or spotty. does it look more even in person?
they look ok to me, but it's missing something. i doubt i would do this diy to my own rims. i'm not the biggest fan of it.

let's put it this way
personally, it's better than cheap blk rims from ebay, autozone...etc
it's cheap mod, and it looks good enough
liquid, jus lower them, get the nice grill, show them how we do.

For the love of God, why?

Too late to ask for opinions; it's a done deal. Hope you like the way they came out. I must add though, I'll never understand how someone (you're not alone in this respect) can take a set of virtually brand new OE wheels (like it or not, worth over $1K from Acura), sand them, and paint them like you would a rusty wheelbarrow. You'll never be able to approach the finish or durability (not even close in this respect) of the factory wheels. And come resale time, you'll be hunting for a good set of (unpainted) OE wheels.

lil more? no
powder coating is at least $150~250 per rim. final cost of his DIY? 23~25 bucks.

Don't know what they charge you in MI, but down here, you can get a good powdercoating for all rims for 300-400$ or less.
I'd pay more to have great results. But then again, I would never tamper with OEM rims.

i find it awkward how when jaehshim posted his thread about painting his OEM rims black. everyone said good job looks great. but when i post mine everyone flames me. even some people who said his looked good said opposite on my thread. whats the difference? is it because he got the mugen grill and i didn't so it balanced it out? our cars looked almost identical minus the lowering and cf fuel lid. well heres a picture of the car with the rims on. since you all assumed it looks horrible before even seeing it ACTUALLY on the car. but whatever you guys think is fine. i think they turned out pretty good.
i took this picture with my camera phone so quality isn't that great. ill take a pic tomorow with my dslr since i was a bit busy today.

lol aiite guys lets not create an argument here. its just whether you think it looks okay or not. at least it doesn't have a big airplane wing on it or anything of that sort. we are all here to discuss our different types of thinking and modding. some of us may like it some may not. i just felt it looked great to me and decided to attack it myself. im happy with the results. its not like you guys own my car so if you don't like its fine doesn't affect you. lets just keep it cool here.
and btw s14 nice little picture. ichigo FTW!
and yay this is my 200th post on this forum haha.

Here's my point:
Powerdercoated or not, the look you now have is the same look of the guy driving the '93 Civic with 13" black steel rims. Why do you want this look on a $28K-$30K luxury car?
However, when I was 17 I put yellow stickers on my car, painted my calipers yellow, etc... all of which I removed later and asked why I did it in the first place. You'll be asking yourself the same question.
