Sorry for the delayed repsonse but here are answers to some of the sent ???'s

-The SUV that hit me was a Honda Pilot. His front-end was dented but he was able to drive away. I can't believe his headlights still worked. The impact pushed me into another car, that's why my front end was damaged.

-For those who said it, "thank God the crumple zone worked!" The more I look at the pics the more I can't believe that I walked away from that one.

-I usually don't carry a digicam with me. The pics were taken when the car was transported from one body shop to another.

-I'm in the South Bay area of So. Cal., more specifically Torrance.

-There's no way I'm switchng car brands at this time. That TSX saved my life... I'm gettin' me another!
Heh you should e-mail Acura and show them how well their crumple zones saved your life maybe they help you out on getting a new tsx =P

Hey It can't hurt

Did this accident happen in Torrance? Looks as if it happened recently (past 2 weeks) when it was raining heavily. And for those Northerns that say SoCal people can't drive in the rain, I do agree with you. But then again, we've gotten more rain thus so far than anyone else on the West Coast (Seattle included).

That's cool that you're keeping with the brand loyalty. And totally with you on the TSX. It did what it was supposed to, and saved your life. I'm glad to hear that you're ok, and most of your injuries should heal over time. TSX!

It's just because (from just personal observation, no scientific data-gathering and statistical analysis), CG seems to be the most popular color out here in SoCal.

Re: Car Declared TOTALLED

i am wondering when a banged up car is declared "totaled" - can the owner like start picking things out before the salvage vultures/junk yard get there ?
I mean how far can the owner go before some party raise an issue ?

Yeah, it happened in Torrance about 3 weeks ago. The thing was, it wasn't even raining! Then after the accident happened, it rained on me when I was standing outside. What freakin' bad luck...

I'm impressed that the back window didn't blow out with a hit that hard. Glad nobody was seriously hurt in that one!

One miraculous thing was that I had my golf clubs in the trunk. For sure I thought they were either broken or bent, but amazingly, they were perfectly fine (Sh*t, I just realized I haven't swung with them so I shouldn't say "perfect"... "Knock-on-wood") The funny thing was my clubs we stuck, and the back seats wouldn't fold forward, so when I told the firemen I had golf clubs back there, they pulled out a sledge hammer and pounded on the car until the trunk released. Thank goodness for them!

I'm not sure why the rear mirror didn't break either...

Hey eyeball correction on rear mirror to rear window =P

How was the damage inside of the car? you said the rear seats could not fold down, so were the two back seats messed up?

You're right, I meant rear window.

I'm not sure how the rear seats were damaged but I couldn't fold them forward to get my stuff. But on the panel that connects the rear right fender to the roof, there was buckling. After I opened the rear right door, I couldn't close it properly.

Yeah, were not exactly careful w/ the cars after accidents, our main prority is make sure the peopole are okay, Medical Assist if needed, and make sure the cars safe enough to be towed, Usually we break open the hood too and cut the battery Cables.... ,

Yeah, thanks to you guys, I got my golf clubs AND the added damages might have pushed the repairs over the top, making my car totaled!

well sorry about the golf clubs.... personally i would of used a halegain and pryed open the trunk, rather then a sledge hammer, Anyway, did the insurance company say ur cars gone, 21 in Az's looked alot worse, and for some reason the insuance company wouldnt declare it Totaled, spend close to 20,000 to fix it, and he got it back...

With the Damage your cars substained ther, Id much rahter thy Declare it totalled, so I could get the Money for it, and u can purchase a new TSX or whatever u were planning upon

Yeah, they declared it totalled. No decision on what the reimbursement's going to be though. My golf clubs seem fine though, I haven't used them yet, but they look fine.

I didn't get to see what 21 in AZ's looked like. Poor guy. I'd be scared to drive a re-build.

what are the requirements of a totalled car? who owns it? are you allowed to take what you put onto it? (modifications) and how far can you go until its considered parting out? i mean is the car just thrown out? n who gets the right andmoney to sell your parts?

I belive if it costs more then 2/3rds of the Blue Book Value its totalled.... Goes to A Junk yard or some type shop like that, where it is in fact parted out, and sold for scrap

If you have paperwork (ie, receipts) proving that you've put some $$$ into that car and that it should be worth more that blue book value, the insurance company will consider that into the replacement price of the car. That's how I understand it.

Just trying to figure out some issues regarding poor Navi signals with a metal base tint film. I posted a thread regarding that but didn't get too many responses, so if anyone out there knows... please help. TSX536 recommended ceramic tints so I'm gonna look into that.
