My new car......

2006 Audi A4 2.0T Quattro 6MT

(To make this stay in TSX forum, my TSX is in the background in couple of these pictures. )

I wanted the 2006 Lexus IS250 6MT, but I've already waited over 5 months for my special order. And my dealer told me that the production of my car hasn't started yet. So I got this instead.

i dont like the navi screen as much as the tsx. looks smaller. the steering wheel looks pretty nice, but i don't like the center of it. also, not a fan of the new grill.

two silver cars? craziness! lol. wish you luck with the audi (even though i'm not a fan).

The suspension is not as stiff as my TSX (when stock) because I didn't go with neither the sport package nor the S-Line package. The S-Line package (the one I test drove) felt like the TSX. As far as handling, the A4 still has a little bit of push (understeer), but I need to really try it out after it is fully broken in. Maybe I'll take it to the auto-x.

The acceleration "felt" fast, but without any timing, I don't know if it is actually faster than the TSX. On the top end (5000rpm+), the A4 felt like it doesn't have much. However, on the mid range (2500rpm to 5000rpm), I could definitely tell that it's got more "punch" to it. That's because of the turbo. On the low end (1000 to 2500rpm), it's lagging big time.

On the freeway, I noticed that cruising at 70mph on top gear, the A4 is roughly at 2300rpm while the TSX is at about 3000rpm.

The steering feel is very light. I wasn't paying attention to this until when I got home and move my Prelude out of the garage. That was when I felt the big difference.

The interior design of the A4 is alright. The TSX and the IS interior designs are much better. The navi screen is small as compared to the TSX. And I can re-emphazise that Honda/Acura navi is the best in the industry. The leather is nicer in the A4 though. The build quality seems very good, but is it way better than the Japanese? Hm...I wouldn't say so.

This is my first German car, in fact, the first car other than Honda/Acura. So I don't know what the reliability is. I kind of don't care much either since I'm not planning on keeping it for long. After the lease, I might switch back to the Lexus because the IS is still my #1 choice. Hopefully, by then they will have the IS350 with 6MT.

I didn't like the new grill when it first came out, but it kind of grew on me.

Yup, 2 silver cars. Silver is the best, 2nd is white.

In the TSX case, SSM > all, but in the A4 case, LSM > all.

Congrats on the new car.

I've been in one of these with the S-line package and it was pretty nice. Still don't thnk it was up to par with the accord euro/ TSX though - handling/balance wise. Probably marginally quicker acceleration however.

So I see you still have the TSX in the garage. Just needed a second car? BTW, I think Audi interiors are sweet. Nice ride.

Or you could wait for the IS500 hehehe.
Anyway nice A4!
I always get the feeling that the leather in European cars is better than Japanese. For some reason I think they age better.

congratz y friend at school has a a4 03 =P yea we noticed his damn turbo lag haha. He does however have the sport suspension it ride very soft compared to the tsx stock. Plus the wheel gap is reduced you can tell when you line both suspensions up.

After i got aspecs i think the tsx handles just as smooth as his a4 =)
Its firm but soft and glides through curves.

Nice vwong! :congrats: I'll have to meet up with you and get a ride in your new car!

BTW, how does the clutch feel compared to the TSX? The past few times while test driving, on German cars, they just didn't compare to Honda's/Acura's clutches and ease of shifting.

I love the new A$, err A4 . Just not a fan of those wheels especially considering there's some really nice optional wheels available. Or maybe they're part of another package.

Thanks for all the compliments. Don't feel bad saying the new front grill is ugly because that was what I thought in the beginning too.

At the moment, I'm keeping all 3 cars. The A4 is my daily driver from now on (I may take it to an auto-x or the track couple times, but really it's gonna be just a commuter car). The TSX is my wife's daily driver. However, we will switch cars due to the limited miles in the lease agreement. Her commute is only 9 miles per day. The Prelude will be my track car. It will be going into the operation room (my garage) for some surgery. My plan with the Prelude is to gut the interior, remove A/C, and remove cruise control by the next track event (next month). I don't know when I'll have more money to plug the sunroof and install a cage.

dom, the wheels aren't my favorite either. The other style can be ordered with either sport package or the S-Line package.

The clutch is fine. In fact, it is better than the IS250 I test drove couple months ago. The clutch feel is very similar to the TSX. The shifting is very smooth too. The shift knob is hugh compared to the one in the TSX.

Cool. Cuz the last time I drove a 6MT bimmer, that thing wasn't very forgiving. I'll have to check it out in person one day!

Nice ride(s)
I'd think the 2.0T would have a bit more ponies than just 200hp... hmm

41 hp for $600 is not bad at all. I'd say you buy that chip now

Forget the hp increase...........the torque increase is great for that money.

I was very very interested on getting an audi with the 2.0t for just that reason. Unfortunately the DSG was a must for me and that isn't available in the a4. If it is ever an option in the a4 and I haven't picked up my 330(5)/is350 yet I would definitely be interested.

sweet ride Vincent!!! I didn't expect you'd get this car, since you've been looking at the IS, but personally I think Audi > Lexus "IMHO"

Can't wait to see it next time we meet up again

She has been driving a lowered car for at least 10 years. Her Civic, Integra, and TSX were (is) lowered and with aftermarket wheels.

Silver is the best. A friend of mine is the same way. His cars (Civic, Odyssey, GX470, LX470) have all been silver.
