My Cars: Big Brother and little brother (broadband beware)
Well, I've had a few requests to show my new G35 next to my '08 TSX.
I'm not a photographer, my pictures suck, let's get that out of the way now...
The cars are:
2008 Infiniti G35 S
RWD Journey with Tech Package, Navi Package, Sport Package and Premium Package.
Blue Slate Exterior
Stone Interior with Aluminum trim
2008 Acura TSX
Navi model
Modded slightly
Carbon Gray Pearl Exterior
Quartz Interior with Aluminum trim
Anyway, here they are:
---
oh, you want some pics just of the Infiniti? Like some interior shots and whatnot?
oh, okay then...
comments nice and not so nice welcome.

Infiniti looks good.
I'm not a fan of smoked tails and also the Type S badge but DAMN!!!
The way you did your car it looks REAL CLEAN!
Before I was wondering why you disliked the 09 TSX MMsTSX, now I know why. 09 TSX is a joke compared to that Infiniti exterior wise.
At least the 1st Gen looks good and can still hold its own against a car like the G35 aesthetically.

the TSX hasn't changed in a while
I used to think the G35 was really cool, but now that I actually look at all the exterior parts it really isn't that great. The headlights and tailights are much uglier than ours

Nice vehicles. There was something that intrigued me from one the pics and it made me want to vandalize it. Hope your not offended MMsTSX

I love it, that's friggin' killer.
yes, she drives the G35 mostly, I mostly drive the TSX.
the TSX hasn't changed much on the outside in a while yes, just a bit
under the hood recently.
outside mods are coming...
but that G was expensive and took up some modding money...
urg...
it's worth it though.
I like the look of the TSX better for sure, I can see some of the ugly aspects of
the G, but it's more for my wife, and she really loves it.
man, those rims really need to get on my TSX...
yeah, I had to be super careful getting out of the G and opening the doors.
but I managed.

nice! although, I would've gotten a black interior for the G35s though, the light colored interior will get dirtier quicker.
the G just looks like a bigger car than the 1st gen TSX. you also need to get an Infiniti license frame to compliment the one on the TSX and a tint too is needed on the G35s!

I love the new G!!
Black interior is a no no.
That's rule number 1: NO BLACK INTERIORS
too hot where I live, I hate how black leather ages as well.
So for the G35 S model there's only two choices, black or stone.
I had to go with stone. I wanted wheat (parchment) but I was unwilling to
give up the LSD and the other goodies that go with the S model.
The G will be tinted soon, but the tint shop is super busy and my appointment is
still two weeks out.
I LOVE the obvious power difference.
The G is so much more of a man than the TSX.
It grumbles and rumbles in a great low tone, and the power is very evident.
306 is what it has... I think. It's great, and it rides soooo smooth.
Yeah, the TSX has some rims coming from Japan.
AME.
Yup, the G is a bigger car. Taller and wider it seems. Not too much longer though.
Feels bigger for sure on the inside too. And you sit higher in it.
The seats are great, I really like the car alot.
Thanks for all the kind comments.

keeping the "rice" badge though... I'm going to earn it.
my car will blow away any type-S on the road when I'm done.
hell, my car will be more deserving of the type-S badge than any other type-S out
there when I'm done.
It'll have probably $15,000-$20,000 in performance mods and another $10,000-$20,000
in appearance mods on it.... I think I can put any badge I want on it then...
Plus the interior and such will be customized to match the badge.
you may call it rice or whatever, I don't care. too bad they never made a type-S TSX
to start with, it would have saved me a few thousand at least...

np, few more things i noticed:
did you lower the TSX or is the G35s really that much taller?
is the G35s loaded cause I see a rearview camera and do you and your wife use the paddle shifters.
i'm disappointed that the rear seat room in the G is about the same size as the TSX. i thought there would be more legroom in the back of the G.
going to do any mods on the G? think you should go to g35driver and see what mods they do on with owners on that site.
also, forget what i said about getting an infiniti license plate frame, get a nismo frame or a G35 frame.

All the way to where the tires are barely tucking, so a slight negative gap.
Yes, the G35 is completely loaded.
No, we don't use the paddle shifters.
The G35 did what the new TSX should have:
There's sport shift on the paddles shifters AND down on the console, I use that one.
The backseat is a fair amount bigger on the G.
It looks smaller because both front seats are back as far as they can possibly go.
I'm a member of G35 driver, I'm there reading every day.
Yes, I'm going to mod the G35, as much as my wife will let me.
It'll start out simple:
Tints, Clear bra, Carbon Fiber Engine Cover, Volk Rims (19's or 20's), M45 shift knob,
Custom interior lighting in cupholders, etc., Switch all interior lighting to LED,
a few other things here and there... much more coming in the near future.
Yeah, we'll get some sort of nice license plate frame, I'm on that too.
what......?
nobody noticed my Mugen license plate bolts on the TSX? I'm hurt.

only way i can buy the G35 is to get the G35x model or the G35x with sport package cause of the snow here.

MMsTSX, riddle me this:
why are you going to spend so much on modifying the tsx when you could have a far better vehicle for less (plenty of fantastic $50k vehicle out there)?
just want to prepare you for the incoming flames because that's what most people will think. on a personal note, i'm all for it. lord knows i've spent enough on the tsx and i will continue to ...

yeah, I hear ya.
but I live in the south. It doesn't even snow here at all in the winter.
maybe once a year, but it never accumilates.
I run summer tires year-round here if that gives you any idea.
If I still lived in New England it would be a G35x no doubt, no question.
But for down here I enjoy the RWD a bit more, I see no need for AWD here.
We have the all-wheel turning thing though... forget what they call it...
and yes, the bolts are too small in the pictures. my bad.
I think I like the TSX aftermarket better than the G35 one.
I see more options for the TSX I like...

Well, this is how it went:
I wanted a TL. 04-05, no more than $25,000... firm.
Couldn't find one in good shape. I shipped 4 of them to my state, but all were
poorly taken care of. I wouldn't take more than 50,000 miles.
So then I considered an 06 TSX for the same price range, or a tad lower.
But I couldn't find one of those I wanted either... hard to find Navi models around.
I won't buy a non-navi model.
So basically I wanted an Acura, period.
I couldn't find and Acura I would accept that was used, I really tried.
I couldn't afford a new TL or a TL-S at the time, so I ordered a new TSX.
The $32,000 it cost me was more than I could afford. It was really pushing it.
But then, after I had the car, things started to look up.
My business is hard to count on and money comes in waves (Real Estate).
So within a couple months I had enough money to pay off the car completely, so
I did, and I had a bunch left over.
I decieded to trade the '08 TSX in for the '09. I figured the '09 would be far superior,
look at this TL vs the 2nd gen, the new TSX must be superior right?
Well, no. As soon as I saw the new TSX inside and out, I knew I could never
buy that lump of turd (in my opinion). So I decided to keep my TSX.
Why spend so much modding it then?? THIS DAMN SITE!!
Damn addiction.
I love that the TSX is fuel efficient, and when I'm done it will handle better than a
BMW. Yes, I'm getting full bracing from Carbing and Cusco. I've already spent
over $10,000 impulsively on the TSX and I figure I mise well now...
Instead of the new G, I was considering the new C63 AMG, so I wouldn't have to
mod anything... but that just had too much power for me.
Yeah, I know modding the TSX as I will will be kinda crazy, I know.
But I'm this far in, I like the car alot, and I'll really love it with it's new mods.
Yeah, it's not money wise, but whatever.
I've been poor my whole life. Now that I have money I just want to spend it all.
And modding the car seems like a great way to me to spend it. Not to the wife though.
okay, that's enough blabbing, you get the point.
It was the best car I could afford at the time...

good thing you got a G35, now you got 2 JDM vehicles, not 1 JDM vehicle and 1 Ohio made one.
Btw, which one do you think will last longer and give you less problems? Hahaha Acura vs. Infiniti in terms of durability.

folks, i think we have a certifiable addict on our hands i bought my tsx for similar reasons and real estate allowed me to start modifying as well. but now that most of my rental homes in fl went belly-up, i've been quite stagnant with new purchases. hopefully things will pick up for me and the best of luck to u.

I'd guess pretty equal.
Buying a JDM car is very important to me.
Once I found out the TL was American made, I thought less of it.
I won't ever really know because the G will probably get driven a full twice as much.
So the Acura will last longer because it won't be driven as much.
I don't forsee either giving me much of any trouble in the 5-8 years I'll own them.
The Acura is paid off, now I need to get the G paid off and get on to my worry-free
years of driving...

well talks with my current mechanic are leaning towards either a custom turbo
or a custom supercharger. Not sure which. He wants to do turbo, but I'm leaning
super...
no bolt on kits that I'm aware of for the '08 that'll fit right, so he'll have to custom
make something, which he's quite adept at doing.
There will be other things to go along with that.
Mugen intake, Mugen exhaust (full), and any other thing I can come up with really.
I don't have a limit for the TSX, so I'm gonna do any and every thing I want to do
with it. Just gotta figure out exactly what would be the best plan here...
got any ideas of your own to contribute? We're also thinking a possible motor
swap, but it just seems too snug to do it, so I think that one is out.

to make things easier on yourself, go supercharger. there are no tuning options with a turbo setup (unless you're willing to spend mucho dinero - emphasis on much). with a supercharger, just make sure you get the appropriate reflash from hondata
