"modded" stock shift knob pic

i was bored and decided to put my stock shift knob back on. i decided not to put the lock nut back on. i also pulled the boot up a bit (made it stay by wrapping some electrical tape around the shift lever underneath and pulling the boot over it...nice and tight)and it sits nicely below the knob.

before: (borrowed pic from someone on the board)

after:

what do u guys think?

How did you keep the shift pattern straight without the locknut?

put little bits of paper in there until it tightened on straight. the paper is removable with a small thin screwdriver.

You don't need to cut it down. When you remove the locknut you can screw it down farther.

i did the day i picked up my car. it actually feels a litl better than stock height. for mine, the final position wasnt too far off from the "supposed" pattern. i just forced it a litl to get it into the right position.(about 15 more degrees)
