i've gone so low that according to the trip computer that tells you how many miles i can drive, it said 0.
i think i drove about 5~6 miles after it said 0,
had to run to gas station for some 93 octane gas.

You know, being that low on gas on a regular basis is pretty bad for your fuel pump. I try to treat 1/4 tank as my "E". It took fuel pump failure on Christmas Eve one year in my old car to teach me this habit.

Most people would think that and it "seems" logical, but it's not true. The fuel pump from your old car could have failed from other reasons.

Read post #61 and #67 for the explanation.

I always thought it was bad to let your tank run completely dry. The mechanics in the shop always said it was not good, anyway. Their reasoning came from "the debris at the bottom of the tank would get sucked in the engine" mindset. I only buy that reasoning for older cars that use cheap gas. I use 93 octane v- power which also cleans the engine (supposedly). But, I never let my car get too low, but going 400 miles on a tank is easy and that is enough for me. To answer the question, when the needle is about 1 mm before the E line is as low as I go.

ive never ran out of gas in my tsx(have 3 times in previous cars...it is somewhat amusing the first time, second time its kind of like, ok im a moron, and 3rd time its just kind of annoying)
but i have been close supposedly although ive never filled up more than 16.6 gallons on the supposed 17.1 gallon tank, i usually take it till it is within the displayed 20 mile range, but have gone 20-25 miles past displayed range on 1 occassion, which resulted in the 16.6 gallons
i did not plan on going that far past but every gas station was closed so i just had to keep on truckin till i got to one.

Not as low as before but pretty low. I could have driven another 15 miles or so.
2.99/9 a gallon come out to be 46 dollars flat, for 15.338 gallons. It actually
stopped at 45.01 by itself, but I needed to round that off to 46.00.

You had about 1.7 gallons left in the tank and could easily have gone another 25-40 miles.

17.1 gallons. You can fairly comfortably use up to 16.5 gal. That's what I use in my mental calculation when figuring out how far I can push it. Highway (33mpgx16.5gal=544mi) I try to fill up before 530 miles. City (24mpgx16.5gal=396) I try not to push it past 400mi.
