Holy Noise Batman!
Wow. The setting was perfect, I wanted to catch the spring solstice full moon. It is one of the best full moons of the year.
So I set myself up, with what I thought were good settings on my camera, but the results show me I was all in the wrong. I took many pictures with different settings, but they all had more or less noise. Here's a good example of one with less noise:
What settings do I need to do to get rid of this noise?
And no , the answer isn't "get a Canon". At least not for now.

You should also check out Neat Image for cleaning up noisy shots: http://www.neatimage.com/download.html
Here's what it does for your photo without tweaking any of the settings:
It would look a little better if you used the original resolution with neat image. Sometimes it can get a little soft after it's been filtered but that can be fixed if you have photoshop.

I have a tripod, but it's some crap I bought at WalMart while driving down to Fla. Found out the hard way it is not close to being rigid enough for long exposure pics.
Figured I would get the colors to come out better that way in low-light conditions.
BTW that fix is cool! Just downloaded it. That should cover up in part for my noobiness, hehe.

On standard point and shoot cameras, anything over ISO 200 will be very noisy. Try to use as low an ISO as conditions will allow. If you're shooting hand held in low light, you might have to use a higher ISO to get your shutter speeds up and avoid camera shake. Noise can be fixed somewhat but camera shake can't.

Just make a few adjustments for next time and you'll come up with a really clean image. Compact cams are usually pretty bad in low light, as has been mentioned already.
If you haven't tried already, you can still apply neatimage to that photo.
Good luck.

I will try neatimage for sure. I'll post it later.
